After all the hullaballoo of recent weeks, the actual announcement that Huawei will be granted Saccess to the UK’s 5G infrastructure was something of a damp squib, slipped out in a press release that didn’t even dare mention the name of the Chinese company. This is Boris Johnson’s first major decision, and it may come to be seen as his most impactful. Most people think of 3G and 4G as networks offering speedier data access and downloads on mobiles, but 5G is a rather more dramatic step up. It is revolutionary technology that can, in theory, support self-driving cars, power connected smart cities and deliver the so-called internet of things. It can provide reliable real-time updates on transport, on production statistics, on logistics tracking. All well and good — as long as NICHOLAS Parsons, star of BBC Radio 4’s Just a Minute, has died aged 96 following a brief illness. Parsons had hosted the show, the wiring underpinning it is sound. Johnson evidently feels in which guests have to speak on a subject for a whole minute without hesitation, since its inception in 1967. Outgoing BBC that our future relationship with China, and therefore its state- director general Tony Hall said: “No one deserves to be called a broadcasting legend more than Nicholas Parsons.” linked telecoms outfit, will not put that wiring at risk. That this is a decision that has come from the National Security Council, that there are caps on Huawei’s market access, and that the firm has been designated a “high risk vendor” suggests that the government is not blind to the possibilities that this deal carries great risks. It is also true that some of the caps are slightly Cut minimum salaries for bizarre; Huawei, for instance, will not be allowed access to 5G infrastructure around nuclear sites, but at least one of those nuclear sites is being built by the China General Nuclear Power Group, a state-owned outfit accused of stealing nuclear secrets from the US. 2015 Issue 3 (Publ. June 1) Vol. 9 Issue 3 A round up of policy events and news 1. Top story - General Election & Queen’s Speech Queen’s Speech – New legislative programme The Queen’s Speech sets out the Government’s legislative agenda, which this year consists of twenty six Bills. The first Conservative Queen’s Speech since 1996 contains few surprises as the proposed legislation reflects the Conservative’s pre-election manifesto commitments, such as a referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU, no rises in national insurance, income tax or VAT over the next five years, and extending Right to Buy to housing association tenants. There are four constitutional Bills devolving power away from Westminster. A consultation will be held on the move to replace the Human Rights Act with a British Bill of Rights. Bills of interest include: Scotland Bill This Bill will deliver, in full, the Smith Commission agreement on further devolution to Holyrood, including responsibility for setting levels of income tax. European Referendum Bill The EU referendum was a key part of the Conservative’s election campaign and this Bill will provide for a referendum of Britain’s membership of the EU. The vote will take place before the end of 2017. Enterprise Bill The Enterprise Bill seeks to cut business regulation and enable easier resolution of disputes for small businesses. Bank of England Bill The purpose of the Bill is to strengthen further the governance and accountability of the Bank of England to ensure it is well-positioned to oversee monetary policy and financial stability.

BSc-Thesis – BMO Management strategies of football clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie Name Student: Mylan Pouwels Registration Number: 991110669120 University: Wageningen University & Research (WUR) Study: BBC (Business) Thesis Mentor: Jos Bijman Date: 1-23-2020 Chair Group: BMO Course Code: YSS-81812 Foreword From an early age I already like football. I like it to play football by myself, to watch it on television, but also to read articles about football. The opportunity to combine my love for football with a scientific research for my Bachelor Thesis, could not be better for me. During an orientating conversation about the topic for my Bachelor Thesis with my thesis mentor Jos Bijman, I mentioned that I was always interested in the management strategies of organizations. What kind of choices an organization makes, what kind of resources an organization uses, what an organization wants to achieve and its performances. Following closely this process in large organizations is something I like to do in my leisure time. My thesis mentor Jos Bijman asked for my hobbies and he mentioned that there was a possibility to combine my interests in the management strategies of organizations with my main hobby football. In this way the topic Management strategies of football clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie was created. The Bachelor Thesis Management strategies of football clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie is executed in a qualitative research, using a literature study. This Thesis is written in the context of my graduation of the study Business-and Consumer Studies (specialization Business) at the Wageningen University and Research. From October 28 2019 until January 23 I have been working on the research and writing of my Thesis.

  • Number #9 in the TDF Top 50
From being a small boy, I have always been a huge fan of both football and professional wrestling and at around the age of 10-years-old, I came across a monthly magazine brought to newsagents from the makers of the world famous Sports Illustrated all about pro wrestling. It was simply named Pro Wrestling Illustrated. It was a publication I regularly read as well as Shoot and Match weekly magazines to feed my football addiction. In 1991, PWI began this new craze that instantly grabbed my attention more than no other magazine had before. They revealed the 'PWI 500'. The 'PWI 500' section in the magazine listed (in rank order) the top 500 professional wrestlers in the world that year. Counting down from 500, this revealed to me many, many talents that I have not discovered as of yet. This was released every year, and still to this day is the best selling edition of the magazine each year. I studied and read and read over and over again that edition in 1991 and I came up with an idea. What if Match or Shoot revealed the top 500 footballers in the world? Thinking back to 1991, I used to love to tune into the 'BBC Radio 1 Top 40' show every Sunday afternoon too... maybe I'm a tad obsessed with countdowns. Anyways, reflecting on the idea, I thought about it each year the 'PWI 500' was released. As years went on, I felt that this would have grown into a hugely successful plan, gaining great recognition with people in the game, possibly gained its own award ceremony on TV with the emergence and exposure SKY Television in the United Kingdom was just beginning to give to the game back then.
