ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 (1)

Temporary Road Closure Hampton Court Road, Hampton

1. The Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate the installation and removal of a temporary footbridge and other works in connection with the Hampton Court Flower Show 2014, they have made a temporary traffic order, the effect of which will introduce a road closure in a length of Hampton Court Road, Hampton.

2. Whilst the works take place, no person may permit a vehicle to proceed in Hampton Court Road from the roundabout outside (the junction of A309 Hampton Court Way and A308 Hampton Court Road) to its junction with Campbell Road, Hampton, where relevant signs and/or cones are placed.

3. An alternative route for eastbound traffic (Hampton Court Bridge towards Kingston Bridge) is via A308 Hampton Court Road (westwards), A311 Church Street. High Street. Hampton, High Street, , A313 Hampton Road, Broad Street, High Street, , A310 Kingston Road, Upper Teddington Road and High Street, . An alternative route for westbound traffic will be as above but in the reverse direction. This route is not suitable for vehicles over 15 feet and 9 inches (4.8 metres) high on account of a low bridge in High Street, Hampton Wick.

4. It is anticipated that the road will be closed from 11.59pm on Saturday 21 June 2014 until 5am on Sunday 22 June 2014 for installation of the bridge to take place and again from 11.59pm on Wednesday 16 July 2014 until 5am on Thursday 17 July 2014 for the dismantling of the bridge. The order will allow the road to remain closed for a longer period on these dates and on alternative dates in case of unexpected events. The order will remain in force for a period of 6 months.

5. The prohibitions apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by prescribed traffic signs.

6. Nothing in the Order applies to: (a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or (b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a traffic warden; or (c) emergency service vehicles, subject to site conditions at the time of any emergency.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
