Service Activity Local Policing Directorate Acocks Green Village BID Company Limited (January 2017 – December 2021) Many thanks for helping to establish the baseline position for services in the Acocks Green Village BID area (map enclosed). Businesses in the area will be voting on proposals to introduce a Business Improvement District in the area which will run for a new five year term and it is vitally important that we establish what the starting position is to enable future monitoring of the impact of the BID’s investment. Please complete the following form for your service for the current financial year as completely as is reasonably possible. Many thanks for your time. Service Activity Local Policing Directorate Birmingham East Local Policing Unit, Acocks Green Neighbourhood Policing Team. Head of Service:- Name Inspector 7515 Keen. Acocks Green Ward (BECA) is one of 4 wards that comprise the When Yardley Constituency, which along with the Hall Green and Hodge Hill How Often Constituencies make up the Birmingham East Local Policing Unit (lead by Planned/responsive? Acocks Green Village BID, Office 8 Dolphin Court, 1227-1231 Warwick Road, Acocks Green, B27 6PX Tel: 0121 706 7581 Other? Acocks Green Neighbourhood Policing Team is based at Acocks Green Police Station and is comprised of 1x Sergeant (Trevor Orton), 5x Police Constables and 4x Police Community Support Officers. The team is overseen by the Constituency Inspector Dave Keen and his second in command Sergeant Sharon Revitt. The Acocks Green Neighbourhood Policing Team work a rolling six days on, three days off shift pattern. This ensures that the team has year round coverage. The six working days are usually comprised of three earlies (0800x1600) followed by three lates (1400x2300), although there is flexibility to allow for regular variation based on operational requirements. Each Police Constable on the team is allocated a micro-beat, for which they will generally have responsibility during their time as a Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer they are supported by PCSO’s. It is generally accepted that Police Constables ‘sign up’ to an informal contract of two years as a Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer, although this can be subject to change for many reasons. PCSO’s generally stay on a Neighbourhood Team indefinitely, unless a reason for change arises. It is expected that each Police Constable and PCSO will spend the majority of their time on their respective micro-beats, however the team can, and often will, provide overlapping support to each other. This (along with operational needs and annual leave) means however that the allocated Police Constable and PCSO will sometimes be abstracted from their allocated micro-beats. The role of the Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer is quite wide reaching and will include everything from traditional policing methods such as foot patrol and dealing with crime/anti social behaviour to more modern activities such as partnership working and proactive project planning. The core value of West Midlands Police is to serve the community and protect them from harm. It is therefore expected that the Neighbourhood Policing Team will work very closely with the BID to achieve mutual objectives for the local community.
