ABOUT 4TRAINS Christine Marie (Creator and Director) is an artist, director and inventor. She is intrinsically tied to ancient art forms and the metaphysical exploration of light. She is pioneering the use of 3D/stereoscopic shadow- theater by inventing lights that project 40’ shadows that move into cubic space. She has studied Wayang Kulit traditional puppetry in Bali and has worked for over a decade with ShadowLight Productions. She has designed for theater at the Geffen Playhouse, South Coast Repertory, Nokia Theater, and REDCAT. Marie’s original work, Ground to Cloud premiered at REDCAT, was shown at the RADAR L.A. festival and was awarded “The Most Innovative Theatrical Experience” at the NYC Fringe Festival. Marie received an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in Integrated Media and Theater. Christine Marie is a TED Fellow. She has taught shadow-theater at both Pixar and DreamWorks. Her latest work Signaling Arcana will premiere this Fall in San Francisco.

Dan Cantrell (Composer) began composing at age 11. He has composed music for over thirty films and several plays. Dan Cantrell’s works include the Emmy award winning composition for the documentary Divided Loyalties, on PBS; Gerbode Grant sponsored The Rootabaga Opera directed by Christine Marie and three seasons of the animated television series Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack on Cartoon Network. His artistry can be heard on albums and on tour with Tom Waits, Joanna Newsom, Frank London, and the San Francisco Symphony.

E. M. Gimenez (Sound Consultant) is a Los Angeles based sound and video artist who works equally in theatre, opera, and rock concert production. Previous projects range from The Exile of Petie DeLarge (NOW Fest 2010), and Crescent City (The Industry @ Atwater Crossing 2012), to more traditional fare such as the Interlochen Shakespeare Festival’s Hamlet last month. Upcoming in the fall, Invisible Cities, a site specific headphone opera at Union Station for The Industry. He’s thankful to Christine Marie for including him in this collaboration! Judah Jaeger (The lovely assistant) Formerly an architect, Judah’s a fascination with unusual imagery and storytelling led him to studying arcane theater prop mechanisms and to volunteering with Christine Marie & Ensemble. He is currently creating text and illustrations for fairy tales.

Jesse March (Shadow Caster Hobo, Jesse March) (SAG/AFTRA) is a 4th year acting student at CalArts. He wishes to thank his parents for being the most helpful people in the world, and his friends for supporting him and his love for physical theater.

Rachelle Mestrovich (Snr Ensemble, Young Women) holds an MFA in acting from CalArts. She is excited to return to this wonderful theater and work again in the great shadows of Christine Marie’s imagination. She is a member of the Equity Company Shakespeare and Friends, which teaches and performs Shakespeare to High School and Middle Schools.

Aniela Perry (Cellist) has been performing and teaching as a cross-genre multi-instrumentalist for thirteen years. In addition to being a classically trained cellist, Ms. Perry has extensive experience as an improviser, touring rock cellist and bassist. She has worked with musicians and composers such as Vinny Golia, John Zorn, Carol Kaye, Morton Subotnick, James Tenney, rock groups Cursive and Silversun Pickups, Ulrich Krieger, Rohan de Saram, Lawrence Lesser, members of the California E.A.R. Unit, the Robin Cox Ensemble and more.

Whitney Raene Rodriguez (Lead Shadow Caster, Hobo Girlfriend) graduated with her BFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts in 2011. Her past credits include Janie Geiser’s Clouded Sulphur and Exhibit A, Reptile Under the Flowers and Edward’s House of String. In addition to theater, she is also pursuing a career in film.

Payton Smith (Asst. Choreographer, Young Man) danced under the direction of modern dance teachers Keith V. Goodman and Chisao Hata. He received a full scholarship and started dancing with Oregon Ballet Theater where he continued to dance for eight years. While in Portland, he danced with Rachel Tess, Josie Moseley, Robert Henry Johnson, Robert Guitron, Christopher Stowell and more. During his senior year of high school he became a company member of the Jefferson Dancers under the direction of Steven Gonzales. During Payton’s summer of senior he received a full scholarship to Nashville Ballet and was offered an apprenticeship with Leon Dance New York. He is now currently a BFA2 in the dance program at CalArts and dances seasonally as an apprentice with Leon Dance New York.

Paul Turbiak (Asst. Director Snr. Ensemble, The Villain) is an actor, director, voice-artist, and occasional shadow man. He has appeared onstage in Los Angeles at The Geffen Playhouse, LATC, A Noise Within, REDCAT, Son of Semele, and The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum. With Christine Marie, he has collaborated on Ground to Cloud, The Fifty Year Sword, and Shipwrecked. He received his MFA in Acting from California Institute of the Arts.

ABOUT DEPTH OF SURFACE Samantha Blake Goodman is an interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles experimenting with the mediums of dance and video. Her unique movement style investigates the intersections of post-modern release based body mechanics with performance qualities and uses of the spine explored in traditional Afro-Brazilian dance. She is intrigued by the sensory and emotional responses triggered by memory, and the ways in which they layer the human experience. Over the past decade, Samantha has been dedicated to movement research of contemporary and traditional Afro-Brazilian dance. She is one of a select group of certified teachers of the Silvestre Technique and has been instrumental in bringing the technique to L.A’s dance community alongside her mentors, Rosangela Silvestre and Vera Passos. Samantha has taught and performed in theaters throughout California, Brazil, and Puerto Rico, and toured nationally as a member of the Viver Brasil Dance Company. She is an L.A. native, where she is currently pursuing an MFA of Dance in UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures/ Dance. Samantha holds a BA in Latin American Studies from UCSC and studied dance at the Escola de Dança da FUNCEB in Salvador, Brazil. http://samantha-goodman.com/

Jillian Cainghug is a Los Angeles based contemporary and vintage collections curator and wardrobe stylist. She studied visual merchandising in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Los Angeles shortly thereafter. Within her time in L.A., she has continued to employ her skills in curation and wardrobe styling for various musicians, dancers, and artisans from electronic music record label 100%Silk to the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company amongst many others. Randé Dorn is the Artistic Director of Dorn Dance Company and a career/project consultant for emerging art makers in Los Angeles. She has a degree in theater from UCSD and an MFA in dance and choreography from CalArts. Her work has been presented throughout California, most recently at LA’s Fashion Week, the LA Dance Festival and Los Angeles Valley College. Michelle-Marie Gilkeson grew up in Claremont, California and began dancing at age three. She was Artistic Director of the University of Redlands Dance Company and has choreographed works performed across Southern California. She received an MA in Women’s and Gender Studies from Roosevelt University, Chicago. Michelle-Marie performs throughout Los Angeles as a member of Dorn Dance Company, and is a reporter and co-host for IMRU Radio on KPFK-90.7 fm.

Desiree Klein is a German designer who recently relocated from Berlin to Los Angeles. Her studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and her original passion for product design continues to inform her clothes in a way that is subtle and sophisticated. As well as designing clothes and accessories she has been instrumental in various other projects. She ran the NR.4 shop and gallery space in Berlin, and has collaborated and styled for such original musicians as Peaches, Feist, Eagle and Talon and many more. Her current line is menswear and womenswear with some pieces doubling as unisex items. She makes timeless, detailed pieces that are a mix of industrial production and the handmade. Bridget Murano (dancer/choreographer/arts educator) recently graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in World Arts and Cultures/Dance. She has explored various dance techniques, and seeks to use her passion for dance to create work that blends her knowledge of diverse dance styles and experiences. Bridget has studied and performed at various venues in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, as well as internationally in Germany and Ivory Coast with choreographer, Michel Kouakou.

Sasha Rivero is a recent graduate of UCLA with a B.A. in arts with a concentration in a dance and a minor in English literature. Sasha has trained with many artists including David Rousseve, Dan Froot, and Karen McDonald. Currently, Sasha is signed with Bloc talent agency in Los Angeles where she has danced for choreographers like Tina Landon, Rosero McCoy and Fatima Robinson. Sasha plans to continue her career as a dancer along with her undying passion for singing.

Isaac Takeuchi has been composing rock and classical music since he was twelve years old in various formats including traditional rock ensembles as well as accordion, string ensembles, and piano. He studied at Cal State Northridge in classical cello performance. Isaac is a founder of the group Tes Elations (think Escher not Tesla), a combination of classical, eastern textures, tribal rhythms and avant-garde dissonances. Tes Elations’ most recent release, the Base Awakes EP, is a distinctive yet subtly composed work of edgy modern music. Takeuchi has a love of disparate musical concepts from species counterpoint to avant-garde sounds (including tone cluster dissonances and harsh spectral noise). Inner Ecstasy, Takeuchi’s latest project, takes off where Tes Elations ends: chamber strings meets subverted pop structures meets adventurous 20th century art music. Misha Vickroy began her dance training at a competitive dance studio in Salt Lake City, Utah. During this time she won numerous awards and scholarships, helping her gain local recognition as a dancer and choreographer. Misha has assisted and danced with well-known choreographers across the country. Her choreography has been honored at both regional and national levels. Misha continued her study at California Institute of the Arts where she graduated with a BFA in dance.

Reggy Woods is the Artistic Director of the Reggy Woods Trio. As a pianist and composer he has performed internationally in Berlin, Vancouver and London with artists of both Jazz and Classical genres. Over the past ten years, Reggy has studied music at world-renowned schools in Los Angeles, Brooklyn and Amsterdam. He currently resides in Los Angeles, where he is a dedicated arts educator, church musical director and musician in various bands.

ABOUT MOLLY MAPS ERRATIC Mecca Vazie Andrews is a Los Angeles based free-lance Artistic Director, Choreographer, Instructor, and Dancer. As Artistic Director of her company the MOVEMENT movement established in 2007, she has considered and developed view points of story telling that are both linear, abstract, vaguely thematic and/ or precisely story driven. The Movement movement is both historical preservationist partnering with musical, performance art, dance, and theatre tradition as well as thoughtful innovation in context and content that speaks directly to, and gently nudges the experience of contemporary audiences. Her choreography projects include , Late Night With Craig Ferguson, The Ricki Lake Show, Austin City Limits Festival, Wild Belle, Strange Island, He’s My Brother She’s My Sister, Prince Poppycock, MEN, The Submarines, The Slits, Astra Ballet Company, L.A. Contemporary Dance Company, Hollywood Bowl, Bess, Toro y Moi, Basement Jaxx, Center Theater Group, LACE Gallery, Hammer Museum, Santa Monica Museum of Art. Director for The Standard Hotel L.A. Event The Series. Andrews and her work have been featured in Paper Magazine, , L.A. Record, and Los Angeles Times. Mecca Vazie Andrews has taught for Millennium Dance Complex, Loyola Marymount University, Nashville School of the Arts, Broadway Dance Center, LA Contemporary Dance Company and Edge Performing Arts Center.

Christine Yetunde Ajisafe is from London, England. She started acting in NYC after completing her Psychology degree as per agreement with her intensely traditional African parents! She has since acted on stage, in commercials and on film, in NYC, L.A., London and Nigeria. This is Christine’s first movement piece and she’s is incredibly excited to be a part of this show!

Cortney Alexander is excited to be performing with The MOVEMENT movement in this amazing show! She has worked many times with Mecca Vazie Andrews, recently including Rain Phoenix’s artist residency I. You. We. Three. She currently works with the Gabriella Foundation where she teaches dance at various inner city schools. Cortney also dapples in a little improv comedy.

Nicole Disson is thrilled to be returning to REDCAT since last performing in Linda Perhacs and Friends with the LA Ladies Choir. Nicole has performed in various theaters across the nation, including LACMA’s Bing Theater, the Boston Court, Marin Theater Company, the Magic Theater, B ST and Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (director Ann Reinking). She produced and performed in thirteen original showings of THE SERIES, a multi- disciplinary production and event, set on the rooftop of The Standard, Downtown L.A. and was the featured performer for the Soho House WH’s New Years Eve 2012 celebration. She recently produced her first film, Sleepover LA, shot at The Standard, DTLA www.NicoleDisson.blogspot.com

Raymond Ejiofor is a recipient of the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship. He completed a B.S. in Decision Science, with a minor in Engineering Studies and Technology & Policy at Carnegie Mellon University and is pursuing a Masters of Public Health from University of Southern California. Raymond has performed in works by Sidra Bell, Camille A. Brown, Kyle Abraham, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Cindera Che, Christopher Huggins, and Robert Battle. Some of his credits include Toshiba, SummerStage NYC, Jazz Dance World Congress, Pittsburgh Opera, Lupe Fiasco, and Little Dragon. He is a founding member of August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble, named “25 to Watch” in 2012 by Dance Magazine.

Alison Fung, originally San Francisco, relocated to Los Angeles to attend UCLA and pursue dance professionally. While a full time student at UCLA, Alison also attended the prestigious Debbie Allen Academy and studied under Karen McDonald. Alison is an accomplished aerialist and passionate teacher. She currently dances for the LA Follies and is represented by the S Agency.

Corina Kinnear grew up in Colorado training at Parker Dance Academy and the International Ballet School. She then continued her studies in San Francisco receiving her BFA at Dominican University with Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet. Since, she has been working as a freelance artist in Montreal, Chicago, and New York. She now performs and choreographs in Los Angeles, including work with Teddy Forance (Movement One Documentary), Yasha Jacobs (Mimoda), Laura Karlin (Invertigo Dance Theater) and most recently, Mecca Vazie Andrews (The Movement Movement).

Cristine Diana Tatomer was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since moving to Los Angeles in 1998, she has immersed herself in the creative fields of dance, design, and music. Cristine is a member of Mecca Vazie Andrews’, The MOVEMENT movement and teaches ballet at The Sweat Spot-Ryan Heffington’s Dance Space. Cristine approaches dance as a philosophy and encourages all to participate!
