The show is still produced today by Sony Pictures Television and distributed by CBS Television Distribution. Wheel of Fortune is the TV contest with the longest duration in the US television history, and reached the 5.000 programmes in 2009. The format has been licensed and adapted in more than 30 countries. “La Ruleta de la Fortuna” is the Spanish version for “Wheel of Fortune”, the famous TV show created in 1973 in the USA by Merv Griffin and originally broadcasted at the NBC. Its Spanish version was the program with which Antena3 TV started its regular emisions in 1990, meaning it was the first entertainment TV show broadcasted by a private television channel in Spain. With different presenters and originally named “La Ruleta de la Fortuna”, the show had its great first period in Antena3, a second one in Telecinco and a third round back in Antena 3 since 2006, changing its name to “La Ruleta de la Suerte”. Since then the production company, Martingala, owner of the “Wheel of Fortune rights” for Spain, started the challenge of improving the contest adapting it to the latest technology.     WILL GEORGE Will George was raised along the historic North Shore in Boston, where, in the late 1960s, he attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He studied painting under the hand of T. Lux Feininger, son of the great German Expressionist, Lionel Feininger. George has since created a unique collection of paintings with an underlying common thread: reflection. He is well known for his celebration of unique spaces that we would otherwise consider commonplace. His use of light and composition makes these spaces dance on the canvas and allows us to look again with a certain reminiscence. Where the presence of the human form can sometimes dictate the mood or tenor of a painting, he chooses to leave the scene void of figures to enable observers to imagine themselves in the vignette, to oblige their own narrative. Whether it’s a restaurant, train station or diner, the play of interior and exterior light are key components of his work. The intent is to reveal the unseen, to feel the air, to experience the blistering heat through the window of a desert café in contrast to the cool sanctuary within. It’s George’s love of the ocean that leads to the literal works of reflection both above and below the water’s surface. The way light reflects and refracts creates an interesting conversation about how we’re all essentially energy. The figures in his “Water Club Series” react as one with the water expanding the human body and filtering it into abstract reflection.     THE NATIONAL TELEVISION ACADEMY PRESENTS THE 32ND ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS CEREMONY BROADCAST ON TWO-HOUR SPECIAL ON CBS Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Merv Griffin NEW YORK, NY – May 20, 2005 – The 32 nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were presented by the National Television Academy at Radio City Music Hall tonight and broadcast live on the CBS Television Network (9-11 PM, EST). The special ceremony was opened by daytime television icons Eric Braeden, Deidre Hall and Susan Lucci. Also in attendance was a star- studded line up of presenters including: Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones Reynolds, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Ellen DeGeneres, Anthony Geary, Tyra Banks, Lorenzo Lamas, Aretha Franklin, Vivica A. Fox, Simon Cowell, Tony Danza, Bobby Flay, and Rachael Ray, among others. Daytime Emmy Awards were presented for performances and programs in 17 categories, including Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Game Show Host, Outstanding Talk Show, Performer in a Children’s Series and Outstanding Drama Series. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Merv Griffin, host of the Emmy Award-winning The Merv Griffin Show and creator of the popular game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!. Griffin has received a total of 32 Daytime Emmy nominations and 10 wins throughout his career. The 32 nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards is a presentation of the National Television Academy in cooperation with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The telecast was produced by dick clark productions. On May 14 th , Daytime Emmy Awards were presented primarily in the creative arts categories at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City and at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles.
