Under Mamata Banerjee’s regime, unrest and distrust defines and dominates the atmosphere in the state. There is a no sphere, be it political, social or religious which is today free from violence and instability. It is well known that from this very land of Bengal, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore had given the message of peace and unity to the whole world by establishing Visva Bharati at Santiniketan.

The International journal of analytical and experimental modal analysis ISSN NO:0886-9367 Determinants of Voting Behaviour in the Assembly Elections in West Bengal: Theoretical Perspective Dr. Md Motibur Rahman1 Guest Faculty, Department of Geography Rajendra College, Jai Prakash University, Chapra Email: [email protected] Rumana Khatun2 Research Scholar, Department of Geography Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh Email: [email protected] Abstract: Voting bahaviour is a form of electoral behaviour which clearly understands voter’s behaviour that can explain how and why political decision was made. Voting behaviour is also known as political psychology of the electors. The study of determinants of voting behaviour constructs a very significant area of empirical observation. Man is a rational animal in the philosophical sense of term, but he is not so rational in terms of economic and political behaviour. The study of voting behaviour displays the important facts that the behaviour of man is influenced by many socio-economic and political factors and also influences on the minds of the voters. The main purpose of the present study is to focus on the concept and definition of voting behaviour and highlight the significant factors that determine the voting behaviour in the assembly elections in West Bengal. Key Words:Assembly Election, Determinants, Electoral Geography, Voting Behaviour. Introduction Geography provides accurate, orderly, and rational description and interpretation of the variable character of the earth surface. It is that discipline that seeks to describe and interpret the variable character from place to place of the earth as the world of man (Richard Hartshorne, 1959).Geography deals with the spatial distribution of the phenomena and the processes through which such phenomena gets generated.

THE HINDU DAILY ANALYSIS DATE – 10th June 2021 For Preliminary and Mains examination (Also useful for APSC and other government examinations) EDITORIALS • At home (GS 2 – Health) • Encouraging accord (GS 2 – International organisation) • Strong-arm tactics weaken democracy (GS 2 – Polity) • The promise and perils of digital justice delivery (GS 2 – Polity and governance) At home Context • Disasters may bring out the innate generosity of people, but sometimes even well-intentioned initiatives may go wrong. • Many believe that children orphaned by calamities are free for adoption and that growing with well-off adoptive parents will give them a shot at a better life than they can get from impoverished surviving relatives. • However, adoption can be an option only when the children’s safety and welfare can be ensured. By ordering that no adoption of children orphaned since last year should be permitted contrary to the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, the Supreme Court has made one more benign intervention to mitigate the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. • It had earlier passed various orders on the economic and health aspects of the pandemic, including those aimed at the protection of migrant workers, prisoners and jail staff and the people at large. • When its attention was drawn to advertisements and messages inviting people to adopt children who have lost one or both parents to COVID-19, the court warned that no such adoption could be permitted without the involvement of the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA). • It is important that the order is adhered to, as past experience shows that the danger of children falling victim to traffickers under the guise of adoption is ever-present.

  • PRESS RELEASE April 19, 2016 Randeep Singh Surjewala, Incharge Communications, AICC and Ms Sharmistha Mukherjee, National Media
PRESS RELEASE April 19, 2016 Randeep Singh Surjewala, Incharge Communications, AICC and Ms Sharmistha Mukherjee, National Media Panelist have issued the following statement to the press today:- Five years ago, Trinamool Congress came to power swearing by 'Ma, Maati, Manush". Sadly, "Ma aaj molin; 'Maati aaj mumursho; Manush aaj marmahato". ‘ Poribartan’ has become a defining word for ‘3 Cs’ – ‘Corruption’, ‘Criminalisation' and ‘Communalism’ under the watch of Ms Mamta Banerjee. No wonder, electorate of West Bengal find no difference between ‘ Modi’ and ‘ Didi’ , both being two sides of the same coin centered around ‘phony marketing’, ‘spurious self promotion’ and ‘Falsehood of Achhe Din or Poribartan’. (i) ‘ Saradha to Narada’, ‘Organised Syndicate to Unorganised Petty Criminals ’ – ‘ Limitless Corruption ’ is the only ideology. TMC finds itself at the centre of the whopping 2460 crores ‘ Saradha Scam’ which sunk the deposits of nearly 17 lakh innocent investors. Will Ms Mamta Banerjee answer as to why senior most TMC leaders/MPs/Ministers have been arrested or questioned in the scam including TMC MPs – S/Shri Srinjoy Bose, Kunal Ghosh, Rajat Mazoomdar, Madan Mitra, Mukul Roy to name a few? Proximity, connection and relationship of those accused of ‘Saradha Scam’ to TMC is well known. Instead of answering, Chief Minister has brushed aside the allegation as political vendetta. Recently, as many as 14 senior leaders of TMC, including five sitting MPs, have been caught in the infamous ‘ Narada’ sting operation accepting bribes. Inside and outside Parliament, TMC tried to brush the issue aside by calling the sting operation ‘fake’ and is now terming the same people as ‘thieves’.
