SHAKESPEARE AT THE ALLEY

From Vanessa Redgrave’s dual performances in Antony and Cleopatra & Julius Caesar to Robert Wilson’s Hamlet: A Monologue, the Alley has a rich history of producing the Bard’s work over the last 70 years. Our current production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will mark the 22nd Shakespearean production at the theatre and the third time the play has been produced on the Alley stage. As we join theatres around the globe in celebrating 400 years of Shakespeare this year, we look back at the history of Shakespeare at the Alley.
