Palabras Clave Martín Domínguez, Enchufe.tv, Producción, buenas prácticas, encuesta, INCINE, Universidad de Cuenca, audiovisual, audiovisual web, video online, YouTube, Touché Films, rodaje, temporada, monetización, coordinación, dirección, actuación, Ecuador, formatos, análisis, Playbook, Creator Academy Martín Domínguez Chávez 2 UNIVERSIDAD DE CUENCA FACULTAD DE FILOSOFÍA, LETRAS Y CIENCIAS DE LA EDUCACIÓN ABSTRACT Literature regarding the topic of cinema is quite limited within Ecuador, both in breath and scope, and even Language. Furthermore literature regarding Audiovisual Production is even more limited, making it virtually impossible to obtain books on the subject within our country. It is necessary to produce more literature regarding production for it to be available to the students of the audiovisuals major so they can expand their knowledge beyond the curriculum. The author has opted to contribute by making a BEST PRACTICES AND PRODUCTION GUIDE FOR ONLINE VIDEO based on his experience on the audiovisual web project Enchufe.tv. The reason of making it about a modern niche topic is so that it inspires students to start their own web projects. To determine the contents of the guide a small survey was carried out with the 6th semester students of the audiovisuals major in order to determine what blind spots about production had to be addressed by the guide. All relevant production materials of the first two seasons of Enchufe.tv were collected as well in order to extract the best practices from those experiences. The PRODUCTION AND BEST PRACTICES FOR ONLINE VIDEO PRODUCTION BASED ON THE FIRST SEASON OF ENCHFUE.TV addresses key blindspots of the students from the major and it collects the best knowledge and practices from the web project Enchufe.tv. The document is approachable to both students and professionals and offers a complete snapshot of the beginnings of the Enchufe.tv project in order to extract its best learning experiences. • Julian Smith CS
Fabrizio Cilento What Julian Smith Hates (and Loves) About Facebook: Social Media Parody As Self-Promotion YouTube is the third most trafficked site on the Internet, after Google and Facebook. Each month over one billion unique users watch six billion hours of video, with one hundred hours of video being uploaded every minute. The YouTube Partner Program launched in 2007 has allowed more than a million creators to earn money from their YouTube videos, with the result that the number of people subscribing daily has more than tripled in the last year.1 As a consequence of this exponential acceleration of production and consumption, the modality through which users experience humor online has transformed, creating a scene of young comedians who are especially skilled in circulating their own content. Through the case study of humorist Julian Smith, this essay investigates what makes YouTube comedians/entrepreneurs successful. In order to understand and critique the channel juliansmith87 and its connections to various social media platforms, I adopt two strategies. On one hand, I focus on a specific video from the channel called 25 Things I Hate About Facebook; on the other I discuss the channel on a macro-level, looking at it from inception to current state. While 25 Things has not achieved the viral success of other videos by Smith,2 it created an aesthetic formula characterized by two elements: a self-reflexive approach to digital media and a high production value. Today Smith’s channel has an average of two and a half million views per video, with peaks of thirteen million, and his visual style has become widely imitated.

  • The Amazing Spider-Stan Theme Song That Almost Was
The Amazing Spider-Stan Theme Song That Almost Was Somewhere, tucked away on a server – perhaps on a Helicarrier adrift above Manhattan – are the doleful tones of Stan Lee singing “Spider-Stan.” It’s likely we’ll never hear it, and really, we’re not positive it still exists, but we know that for one glorious moment in time it was a thing, a song sung to the Spider-Man Saturday morning cartoon theme music, created for the credits of LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes, and then killed off, as if by a single snap. “We had a recording of Stan Lee singing ‘Spider-Stan, Spider-Stan, does whatever a Spider-Stan can,’ and it was just magic,” said Arthur Parsons, who was the creative director at TT Games for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. “But we couldn’t seal the deal on that.” Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that a game stacked with content from seemingly every facet of the Marvelverse would be home to a few hidden, even unreleased gems. In the most recent episode of the LEGO Bits N’ Bricks podcast, Parsons is joined by Andy Dolan, who oversaw animation for the game at TT, and Chris Baker, who was the manager of licensed games at Marvel, to discuss one of the top-selling LEGO video games of all time and how it came together. Parsons, who had just worked on LEGO Batman 2 and two Harry Potter titles at TT Games, said he couldn’t believe his luck when he heard that the studio would get to create a LEGO video game set in the Marvel universe.
