The Organization Committee of the ICF Canoe Marathon World Cup 2019 have the pleasure to present you the 2nd bulletin, with updated information about this major event, taking place in ….. May/June.

In this document you will find information about the race course and facilities, accommodation details, transport, everything to help you plan your participation and provide a safe and fair event.

So far, the organization received prebooking of hotel from a total of 10 countries: SWE, FIN, CZE, GBR, POR, AUS, RSA, NET, ITA, NOR.

We recommend to book hotel reservations via [email protected], as soon as possible.

2. THE COURSE The course will be at the inner parts of the Oslofjord, on sea/salt water. The maps are sketches. Exact maps will be published in Teamleaders Handbook.

Disembarkment and embarkment will be at beach. The portage will be approximately 100m long and on the beach with fine sand. The tide is 0,5m from low to high tide.

ATHLETES’ AREA KALVØYA

A small bridge – approximately 100m – will bring you to and from the island Kalvøya. It is prohibited for vehicles with more than 8 tonn axle load to use the bridge. If you come with a bigger car with boats, you must send a message to the organisers.

The area for team tents and boat storage is at Kalvøya. The raft marshalling will also be here. The club house will host some of the service functions for the athletes.

PLAN FOR CLUB HOUSE Ground floor: Area for doping tests in men’s and women’s wardrobes. First aid. First floor: Area for officials and administration. Second Floor: Relaxing area for athletes and team leaders.

People who book at other places than Thon Hotel Oslofjord must be aware that traffic around Sandvika can be very slow, especially during the rush hour (morning and afternoon).

5. PARTICIPATION FEE a. You must pay a participation fee of 30 EUR per person pr day, which includes the following: Accreditation Transport from Sandvika Station to official hotel/accommodation. Transportation: the transfers from hotels to venue: see Hotel Reservation Lunch at the venue Medical Care at the Course Security Service at the Course Access pass and parking at the venue ….. Organisation Fee Water during competition days

If you prefer not to have lunch the participation fee is 20 EUR/Person/Day

b. Transport from Airport Gardermoen (OSL) by train. Se details about arriving at Oslo Airport at page 14. Tickets can be ordered from the organisation or bought at the airport. c. Transport Sandvika Station -Hotel: A shuttle bus will transport you to your hotel from Sandvika Station. This is included in your participation fee.

7. VILLAGE COMERCIAL We have discussions with the owners of the park, the local authorities, of what part of the park and island we are free to use for commercial purposes. When the decision is done, we will put the different options and prices on our web site.

8. CEREMONIES 8.1. OPENING CEREMONY ….. There will be a short opening ceremony at the venue a few minutes before 1st start Friday afternoon. There will be no parade of athletes.

8.2 CLOSING CEREMONY The closing ceremony will also be simple, after the last race and last medal ceremony.

10. ADDITIONAL EVENTS Masters There will be races for Masters Saturday 1st of June in the afternoon. More information will be published at our web site www.wmc2020.no in March.

11. INSURANCE All participants are strongly advised to have appropriate medical insurance policy from their respective countries.

12. SECURITY The security service for The Canoe Marathon World Cup will work from May 30 to June 2. This device will guarantee the security in all areas and facilities of the event.

12. MEDICAL SERVICES A medical service will be available at the Regatta Course, and will have all necessary equipment to care for all possible emergencies: first aid equipment, ambulance, from May 31 to June 2 to everyone requiring medical assistance.

13. BOAT RENTAL The Organising Committee has a small number of K1s. Competitors from outside Europe (AUS, RSA, etc) will have priority renting those boats. The OC are working with boat manufacturers to come to World Cup, but European nations are advised to ….. contact boat manufacturers and sellers directly. Price K1: 200 EUR for renting Norwegian boats.

Team members coming from countries who need to obtain a Visa to enter Norway, upon corresponding request, they will receive a confirmation letter from the Norway Canoe Federation, once their participation is confirmed.

FACTS ABOUT OSLO AND SANDVIKA

The venue for the World Cup 2019 and World Championships 2020 is in the town of Sandvika. Situated approximately 10 km west of Oslo City, the capital of Norway.

SANDVIKA – THE TOWN AND THE SITE The competitions in May/June 2019 – The ICF Canoe Marathon World Cup, and in August 2020 – The ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships 2020, will both be in the town of Sandvika. Sandvika is a modern small town, dominated by shops and restaurants, a big shopping center, and the administration center of the municipal of Baerum.

HOW TO TRAVEL TO OSLO AND SANDVIKA BY PLANE Oslo Airport Gardermoen Oslo International Airport (OSL) – Gardermoen – is situated approximately 50km north of Oslo City. Most of the international airlines travel to OSL. From the airport you will be transported by train (40 minutes) to Sandvika.

In the airport we have an information stand. There we will provide train tickets, and the guides there will show you to the platform and make sure you get in the right train

At Sandvika Railwaystation there will be a shuttlebus that takes you to the hotel, and the other way when you go back.

BY CAR  You can travel without ferries through and Sweden. A long drive: 943 km from the German/Danish border to Sandvika.  You have several options to travel with ferries between Denmark and Norway (from Copenhagen, Hirtshals and Fredrikshavn), and from Germany (Kiel). Arriving at Sandvika with car From Oslo City/East: Follow E18 direction west. Take Exit 15 in direction Sandvika.
