LIFT TO CHURCH FOR PAM SMITH PLEASE – Pam would be very grateful indeed if people could now call and collect her and bring her to church on Sunday mornings (and take her home again!). If you could help out occasionally do please give her a call on 844142. Or perhaps call on a Saturday to see if she has a lift for the next day.

AUTHORISED LISTENERS SCHEME – The Diocese of Canterbury has appointed qualified counsellors and practitioners as ‘Authorised Listeners’ who are available to met with anyone who needs an attentive and attuned listening ear to help them to talk about current or past abuse of any nature. Male and female listeners will be available for up to four sessions, free of charge. If you would like to meet with an Authorised Listener please contact Elaine Rose ([email protected]) or Simon Tapp ([email protected]) who are The Diocesan Safeguarding Advisers. AUBREY BUTTON is now a resident at Pilgrims Way Nursing Home, 10 Bower Mount Road, Maidstone. Those who know him, or helped with transport him to Friendship Circle and Lite Bite might like to send a card or call and see him.

REVD IAN PARRISH - Ian is to be the new Priest In Charge of All Saints Maidstone with St Phillips and St Stephens and he will be licenced there on Tuesday 21 October.

OLIVER ! Performances will be on Friday 7 November (evening); Saturday 8 November (matinee and evening) and Sunday 9 November (evening). Put the dates in your diary. Like to be involved? Some characters still need to be cast; chorus members; back stage; help making/paint scenery; [email protected]

SPONSORSHIP OF OLIVER PRODUCTION – this year the Village production will benefit the Children In Need appeal. There are considerable costs in putting on such a show – this time we have had to pay for a licence to use the script and the music and there are other costs such as hall rent, props, scenery production etc. If you would like to help offset the costs by sponsoring the show, please give your donation to the Wardens or to Linda Darling (cheques payable to ‘Boughton Monchelsea PCC’ please. Sunday 21 September – FUN CRICKET MATCH for people with disabilities. 1.00pm start at the Addington Cricket Ground, Addington, West Malling. Spectators welcome – there will be a buffet tea but they will need to know how many for catering purposes. Please ring Geoff Ivory on 683 408 Jamie Lockhart takes place but is note sure if he can do it this year as he has gout and has not been to church for a few weeks.

Tuesday 30 September – VISIT CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL - The Dean of Canterbury Cathedral has invited members of our Deanery to a special evening at the Cathedral. It will be an evening visit starting at 7pm in the Cathedral with a look at some aspects of the creative work carried out there day by day. The idea is to make parishes feel more at home in their Cathedral and understand more of what happens there. At 7.45pm, Eucharist will be celebrated at the High Altar. The building will be entirely ours and the Dean hopes that the Eucharist celebrated quietly near the throne of St Augustine will be a very special one. We then move to the nearby International Study Centre for supper where there will also be music from members of the Cathedral Choir. Events will draw to a close by 9.45pm. All costs will generously be borne by the Dean and Chapter. Saturday 4 October - REST AND RENEWAL DAY at Holy Cross, Bearsted. 10am for 10.30am start, until 3.30pm – Learning to listen to God in every day life through the music and teaching of Marilyn Baker and Tracy Williamson Bring your own lunch, drinks available throughout the day. Saturday 4 October - HEALING PRAYER SCHOOL DAY CONFERENCE - At St Philip and St James Church Chatham ME5 OTZ Registration from 9am. Saturday 4 October – VILLAGE LITTER PICK – 9.30am All volunteers welcome please. Meet outside Village Hall.

Sunday 5 October – HARVEST SERVICE – please bring gifts for presentation during the service. All the produce will be taken to Maidstone Christian Care who work with the homeless and needy in our town. They like non-perishable items (no alcohol thank you). All the items help the charity offer meals for the homeless and also provide food parcels for families

Monday 13 October – 7.30pm The Friends of St Peter’s Church warmly invite you to their AGM. In the Committee Room at Village Hall.

Saturday 18 October 7.30pm Village Hall ‘SAVE’ (Save them from slavery) a charity music event for the trafficking charity ‘A21 campaign’. ‘We cannot do everything, but everyone can do something”. There will be live music from local performers and bands, a charity auction which will include original paintings from local artists. Put the date in your diary and watch this space for further info. Tickets early bird price of £5 or buy 4 and get one free (Prices will go up nearer the date of the event). For tickets please all Lydia on 07740 285 324. Event organised by Junction’s young adult community group.

Thursday 23 October – St Peter’s Pilgrims (Walking Group). Meet in lay-by on Shipbourne Common near Tonbrige, opposite The Chaser Inn (TN11 9PE; GR TQ592523). 10.15am for 10.30am start. Walking boots recommended about 4-5 miles off road in a circular route. Back to pub for lunch. £1/head/walk for church funds

Friday 31 October 3pm (doors open 2pm) ‘An Afternoon With ‘Alexander McCall Smith’ at Prparatory School, ME17 3RF Best selling author of ‘The No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency’ that was serialised on TV recently. Come and hear Alexander talk about his writing, his characters and his latest projects. An opportunity to meet the author, buy his books and have them signed. Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November – Not a panto this year but a production of Lionel Bart’s famous musical – ‘Oliver’.

Saturday 29 November – Maidstone United Reformed Church are hosting ‘Charities Christmas Fair 2014’. The fair will open at 10.00am. Churches are invited to book table space (max of 2 per church). £8 per long table or £4 per small one. Stalls can be set up from 8.30am on the day.
