Repollet, Ed.D., invites applications and nominations for Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs/ Provost. Kean, a world-class university with campuses across the state of New Jersey and around the globe, seeks an experienced, strategic and visionary chief academic officer who puts student success first in advancing a comprehensive university. The next SVPAA/Provost will work closely with President Repollet to expand the University's focus on equity and opportunity for Kean’s diverse student body while charting a course of excellence that leads Kean on a path to become the next great research university in the state. MAIN CAMPUS The main campus spans more than 185 acres in Union and 5 Hillside, New Jersey and serves nearly 13,000 undergraduate and THEATRES graduate students. With a N.J. Transit train station right on campus, 7 Kean is fully accessible to students, faculty and staff throughout the GALLERIES New York metropolitan area. Over the past 15 years, the campus has transformed and expanded to become a point of pride for students, faculty, staff and alumni. New academic buildings with state-of-the art laboratories, studios and classroom space have been constructed and opened to support student learning. Those buildings include the New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics, which houses the University’s STEM initiatives; the Green Lane Academic Building, which houses the University’s design programs, among others; and the North Avenue Academic Building that houses computer science and technology, physical therapy and other health sciences programs. The University also opened a modern 385-bed residence hall for freshmen in Fall 2018. Cougar Hall offers suites with the latest amenities, including a business center. Additionally, the former Pingry School on campus underwent a stunning redevelopment and renovation project that ultimately provided a home to the University’s graduate college, along with extensive clinical space for its top-ranked graduate programs in occupational therapy, speech therapy, counseling and psychology. In Fall 2019, the University opened the Liberty Hall Academic Center building on the historic Liberty Hall campus that is now home to the Department of History. The two-story building offers about 40,000 square feet of classroom and gallery space as well as a historic research library. It sits next to the Liberty Hall Museum, which was home to the first governor of New Jersey and was visited by many of our nation’s founding fathers such as George Washington and Alexander Hamilton. The museum is open for public tours and holds exhibitions throughout the year for the Kean community and visitors from across the region. KEAN UNIVERSITY | 5 Cougar Hall opened to The Liberty Hall Academic Center resident students in Fall 2018 opened in Fall 2019 Within the past year, several projects have opened, enhancing the main campus for students, faculty and staff. Hynes Hall, the new College of Business and Public Management building along Morris Avenue, opened in Fall 2020. It bears the name of Jim Hynes, a 1963 Kean graduate, and his wife Carole, who announced a significant contribution toward the development of the facility in Fall 2018. The 90,000-square-foot structure houses all of Kean’s undergraduate and graduate business and public management programs, as well as a wide variety of state-of-the- Hynes Hall opened in Fall 2020 art resources, including smart classrooms and study lounges; a “Bloomberg room” where students can work on the Bloomberg business intelligence software; a virtual “library in the sky,” and a rooftop deck with a view of New York City. In recognition of the generous historic gift that Distinguished Professor Emerita Dorothy Grant Hennings, Ed.D. ’H10 recently made to Kean University, the University also opened the George Hennings Research Wing, a modern laboratory space to expand the Science Building. The wing is named in honor of her late husband, who also served as a professor at Kean. The 10,000 square-foot project includes upgrades to the botany and zoology Hennings Research opened in Fall 2020 labs and the new organic chemistry lab. The Miron Student Center, the heart of campus life, also recently underwent a renovation of 2,800 square feet to modernize the building, establish an international food court and provide additional meeting spaces for students. The University also opened its own federally certified COVID testing lab in Kean's STEM Building in early 2021. The new lab, along with testing and vaccination sites on campus that are operated in partnership with the County of Union, make Kean a Miron Student Center renovation hub for the pandemic response in northern New Jersey, fulfilling completed in Spring 2020 the University's longstanding commitment to public service.
