Rather, it's the Irish Youth Music Awards, and locally, the Carlow Regional Youth Services (CRYS) is working with them to find the brightest would-be stars in the area. "This is not the X Factor and there will be no cruel disembowelling of people's efforts. This will be a positive, constructive exercise in the company of one of Ireland's most respected music business personalities. Artists should not feel in any way intimidated by this great opportunity," a spokesman for Hot Press magazine said. Anyone interested has an opportunity to get involved because each county brings a team of young people to Dublin. There will be expert help on hand for PR, photography, web design and other music business essentials. Entrants can play any style of music they want, must have at least one original song but they must hurry because closing date is 21 February. Local winners will then go on and represent the county at the national finals on 12 April. The panel of experts includes Jackie Flayden (Hot Press magazine), Willie Kavanagh, (head of EMI Records Ireland and chairman of IRMA), Liza Geddes, head of media at Friction PR (Snow Patrol, Villagers), William Ryan, music barrister, and Keith Johnson, marketing manager with IMRO. If you are passionate about music and are looking for an opportunity to perform or have your own song performed, call Paul Amond on 085 7897279 or drop in to The Vault, Burrin Street, Carlow. -5- Corkman Circulation: 6911 Thursday, 20 February 2014 Area of Clip: 89200mm² Page: 78 Page 1 of 1 HAVEYOU AN EVENTSUITABLE FORTHIS PAGE?
