A time for the resumption of the suspended game at Jackson has not yet been announced. Statistics and results from the game are not final and will not count toward season totals until the game is completed. Jon Duplantier started for the Generals on Wednesday and retired each of the three hitters he faced in the first Generals At A Glance st inning, throwing 13 pitches (8 strikes) in his first start since May. Offensively, eight Jackson hitters came to the plate, but only 1 Half W-L (69 Games) & Rank 39-30/1st, North two of them reached base, with none recording hits against Montgomery’s Dalton Moats. The Biscuits currently hold an 8-6 lead 2nd Half W-L (70 Games) & Rank 19-20/3rd, North over Jackson in their season series, with Jackson (58-50) trailing Montgomery (59-50) by a half game in the season standings. Entering the final month of the season, Jackson is 28-31 against North Division opponents. All six of the Current Streak L2 Generals’ final regular season series feature North Division competition. After winning the North Division in the First Half, the Generals are guaranteed to host two opening-round games in the Southern League Playoffs at The Ballpark at Jackson on Sep- tember 5 and September 6. The team that wins the North Division in the Second Half will oppose the Generals in that series, Start-of-Series Team Stats which will be a best-of-five series. Generals (thru 8/1) STATS Smokies (thru 8/1) .736 OPS .695 OUTFIELDERS LOCKED IN -- Outfielders Ben DeLuzio and Jay Gonzalez did not start a game together from April 27 through 535 Runs 464 July 7 (71 days) because of separate stints on the DL. With DeLuzio returning July 4 and Gonzalez back on July 8, the speedy 69 HR 93 tandem has done a lot to make up for lost time, batting .355 & .302 respectively in July. Pair them with the July numbers of 101 SB 85 Daniel Robertson at Jackson (11 R, 27 H, 20 RBI) and you've got a solid threesome to patrol the park and stand tall at the dish. 4.03 ERA 4.15 1.27 WHIP 1.32 CLASSIC M&M's vs. NEW M&M's? -- InfieldersMarty Herum and Kevin Medrano both spent time away from the Generals for 1,031 Strikeouts 828 different reasons (Herum on the DL, Medrano after a promtion to Triple-A). Neither guy has been quite the same hitter that he was since their original stay in Jackson this season. Both defend well, but the Generals need their bats to remain competitive. 2nd Half Southern League Standings Medrano's 2nd Half at JXN: 54 AB, 9 R, 14 H (.259) Herum's 2nd Half at JXN: 109 AB, 9 R, 24 H (.220) North Division W-L GB Medrano's 1st Half at JXN: 204 AB, 33 R, 75 H (.367) Herum's 1st Half at JXN: 67 AB, 17 R, 22 H (.328) Montgomery Biscuits (TB) 22-17 -- Birmingham Barons (CWS) 22-18 0.5 WALK SOFTLY AND CARRY A BIG STICK -- Generals All-Star first basemanRudy Flores is off to a good Second Half start, Jackson Generals (ARI)* 19-20 3.0 and while he doesn't hold the prospect status of Corey Ray, Zack Collins, or Brent Rooker, Flores does have MVP-type numbers. Tennessee Smokies (CHC) 17-21 4.5 Flores' 2nd Half Stats: .282/.415/.436, 11 XBH, 23 RBI, 23 BB Chattanooga Lookouts (MIN) 15-23 6.5 STARTERS ROTATING? -- The Generals' starting rotation remained constant between early June and late July, but it changed South Division W-L GB with the start of August. After an injury to Bo Takahashi and the promotion of Joel Payamps to Reno, right-hander Ryan Atkinson Pensacola Blue Wahoos (CIN) 27-12 -- was moved to a bullpen role, while fresh arms were added from High-A Visalia. Tyler Mark and Miguel Aguilar should be a boost Biloxi Shuckers (MIL)* 22-17 5.0 to the Generals' bullpen, but right-hander Emilio Vargas--the MILB leader in Ks--has a good shot to make an impact as well. Mississippi Braves (ATL) 21-18 6.0 Barry Enright, a former Diamondbacks pitcher who was signed out of the Mexican League earlier this month, made his Jackson Mobile BayBears (LAA) 15-23 11.5 debut on July 31. Even more important, the left-hander felt healthy through six or seven side sessions, after dealing with myriad injuries during his Minor League career. That combination, along with his raw talent, puts Clarkin in play to be added to the White Sox 40-man roster by the 7 p.m. CT deadline on Monday, protecting him from exposure to selection by the rest of baseball in the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 14 at the Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Clarkin, Chicago's No. 22 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, was selected by the Yankees at No. 33 overall in the 2013 MLB Draft, one pick after Aaron Judge, the '17 American League Rookie of the Year Award winner and MVP Award runner-up.
