A project funded by Internal Federation of Transport Workers (ITF), London Office Building Union Influence and Campaigning in BRT in Nairobi, Kenya Research Project.” Key tasks included coming up with research design and survey instruments, actual data collection, analysis and preparation of the report.

3  September - October 2016: Assistant National Individual Consultant: Case Studies on African Experiences in Formulating and Implementing Plans for Emergence in Kenya. A research project being conducted for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Key tasks include: carrying out the research and preparation of the synthesis report to be reviewed by the UNDP technical team and the lead consultant.

 July - August 2016: Researcher: Assessing the Drivers and Barriers of Five (5) Risk Behaviours among Young People between 10-24 Years in Kibera, Nairobi. A formative research being conducted for Plan International under Young Health Programme (YHP) in Kibera, 2016.

 Dec. 2014 - 2016: Researcher: How do Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations as Operational Arrangements for Paratransit Management Affect Public Transport Users? Comparative Case Studies of Inter-City Shuttles in Kenya. This is part of an on-going research project on development and testing of paratransit regulatory and operational alternatives under the eagies of African Center of Excellence for Studies in Public and Non-Motorised Transport (ACET) based at the University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa.

A research project funded by International Development Research Centre (IDRC) under Inclusive and Accountable Political Settlements Programme. I worked in the project as a joint consultant for the implementing agencies - Saferworld Kenya and Local Capacities for Peace International (LCPI).

 August 2016-October 2018: Secretary: IDS, University of Nairobi Taught PhD Curriculum Development Committee. Specific task involve carrying out background research which informs the process, general coordination of key tasks and documentation of the process.

 March 2016-2017: Secretary: Academic Sub-Committee, East Africa Transport Conference (EATC) and IDS/EATC working group. Specific tasks involve coordinating (in collaboration with the chair) call for papers and presentations for the 2nd EATC to be held in Nairobi at Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC); preparation of modalities for long term collaboration between IDS/EATC and Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Programme (SSATP) in developing a capacity building programme on public transport targeting researchers, policy makers and practioners/operators in the Eastern Africa region.

 June-2015- to date: Secretary: Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi PhD Curriculum Development Committee. The committee’s task is to come up with PhD taught programme in line with the terms of reference outlined by the Institutes Post Graduate Committee. My specific tasks include documenting the process, carrying out research which informs the process and preparation of various reports which guides committees work and actual deliberations.

 April-November 2015: Member of the Organising Committee and Conference Discussant: “Rethinking Development and Development Studies in the Post-2015 Era”. An international conference organised by the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi to commemorate its golden Jubilee (1965-2015), at the University of Nairobi, 17-20 November 2015. Key activities involved conceptualisation and preparation of the conference concept papers in collaboration with team members, identification of participants, and review of concept papers, logistics and being a discussant in one of the conference sessions.

 Jan-June 2010: Team Leader: Organising committee for Association of European Development Studies Research and Training Institutes (EAID) PhD UK Summer School 2010 Security and State Today. Hosted by both Institute of Development Studies and School of Global Studies, University of Sussex (10-11 June 2010). Key activities included developing a concept paper for the summer school, identifying participants through a call for papers, hosting and running the event.
