7 A FOCUS ON IMPACTFUL ENTREPRENERUSHIP

Scotland is an entrepreneurial destination with a difference.

Across the world the definition of economic success is changing. We are seeing a shift in mindset as nations no longer seek only to create wealth; but to distribute wealth so that it positively impacts everyone.

Scotland is championing this change as wellbeing shares centre stage with sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the ’s National Performance and CAN DO Frameworks. It is a powerful statement of national purpose so it comes as no surpise that Scotland is an entrepreneurial destination with a difference: we are a supporter of values based impactful entrepreneurship and not somewhere that is just chasing the next billion pound company valuation.

Scotland has the ambition to build a world-leading entrepreneurial nation, where sustainable growth and innovation deliver benefits to all of society.

Scotland’s ecosystem is recognised as world class and as a small country, we believe we have the opportunity to pilot a new economy model that is a virtuous economy bringing benefits for all.

In Scotland, entrepreneurs and business leaders recognise there is an opportunity to be part of a growing econo- my that does things differently, contributing to sustainability, equality and wellbeing while growing their business; giving something back; being kind and doing good.

We will achieve this by: • Championing and supporting impactful, values-based, purpose-driven entrepreneurs • Delivering and supporting initiatives focused on the development, attraction and retention of a diverse mix of ambitious, impact focused entrepreneurs in Scotland • The development of a supportive, well connected, inclusive ecosystem in Scotland which provides a world class entrepreneurial hub focused on purpose and values as well as economic growth, from which ambitious entrepre- neurs can grow and scale up their businesses

Supporting inclusiveness, diversity, equality, fairness, values-driven growth and a focus on impactful entrepreneurship are cross cutting themes of everything we do.
