SOLDIERS’ WIVES Friday 8 March 7.45pm This play opened to great acclaim at Jermyn BY SARAH DANIELS Street Theatre and then played to good audiences at Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh this summer. Cathy's compelling performance and mainstream appeal is proving perfect casting for this play that is raising money for Help for Heroes. It tells the story of five women, all played by Cathy Shipton, best known for her role as Duffy in the BBC’s Casualty. The women all await the return of their husbands from a tour of duty in Afghanistan with varying abilities to cope and face the realities of their new relationships. It's very moving although not without humour and has had an incredible and touching response from ex-military and their families and all those affected by family members being called up for duty.

Ruby Turner is a national and international RUBY TURNER treasure, having already been awarded with the prestigious Gold Badge Award, for her contribution to British music. The lady herself is too modest to brag about her decades of experience on all kinds of stages and screens, seven hit singles including a definitive version of I’d Rather Go Blind, three chart albums or her prestigious US R&B No.1, Its Gonna Be Alright.

After Ruby toured the States as featured vocalist with Culture Club, she returned home to find a coveted solo deal with Jive Records on the table. Four albums, regular chart singles, extensive national and international touring and huge acclaim all followed. The call to guest with Jools Holland, and then over the last few years to be an official part of his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, was perfectly timed, this led directly to Ruby featuring on numerous Jools Holland albums as well as her own solo projects.

Anthony Butterfield is self taught and has been painting for more than 20 years. He has studied the arts of The Ancient Masters and accommodates some of their techniques into his own paintings. He works with oils, which he applies to the reverse side of glass to create the finished painting. Anthony spent many years in the perfection of this technique, which brings luminosity to the images created. The results represent an extended life journey reflecting tremendous experiences through to his current work. Anthony is willing to take commissions for paintings.
