‘Lunches’ from page 1 all a free meal. Casey said, “I had to do something.” Last Tuesday, Williams engaged his Rotary Club, Santa Rosa West, and asked the board to pledge $1,000 to this particular project, and not only that, he also reached out to a sister Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa East and they also agreed to match the $1,000. What an accomplishment! Casey says, “Since last Saturday, I have secured corporate donations from Sonoma Clean Power and St. Joseph’s Health Center for $1,000 each.” On Saturday, March 28, those funds bought close to 200 boxed lunches from Sally Tomatoes. They then set up a free drive thru at the Multicultural Child Development Center in Santa Rosa and gave a lunch box to any one that drove up and showed their business card, hospitality card or even showed a shirt or hat from the bar or restaurant they had been employed at and were given a free meal for them and their families. There are so many people in the hospitality industry who are out of work for now. These people work hard and are left with no source of income though certainly no fault of their own. Since Casey Williams wants to make this a weekly thing he has set up a GoFundMe page. He said, “I just launched this March 24 and already $855 were donated. I would love to expand this program and keep it going as long as it is needed.” As of March 31, donations stands now at $2,250 which means that the food give away can be given out two more Saturdays and the best part over $6,000 has been raised in five days. Gerard did throw in extra lunches for free but that is Giudice’s way of doing things, but the goal of the program is to feed the hard working sector of their industry that drives the economy as 25 percent of Sonoma County’s economy is tourism, but this is also helping a business that has literally been built on giving back to this community. The time for the hand-outs has changed and will be from noon for the drive-thru at the same location. Last Saturday about 20 cars came through the drive-thru. Over all about 175 lunches were handed out and Sonoma County Acts of Kindness picked up the remaining 40 to add to Sally Tomatoes 200 lunches. Thanks to them! Casey says, “there was a recent Press Democrat article when Gerard said, “if we do go down, we Easter are going down swinging.” “Well,” as Casey continues “I am going to fight right along side of him. Once we all get through this unprecedented time, I am sure Gerard will be back to his huge hearted, generous self.” “Until then,” Casey said, “I really want to give back to someone who has given so much to us and an industry that works so hard while being a huge part of what makes Sonoma County the best place to live in the world.” Experience

‘April showers’ from page 1 Day,” on April 10. A good event for those sheltered in place with their children. You can encourage them to write something. A poem, a short story or any form of writing. Have them share it. Post it on Facebook. Have them face time with Nana and read it. Stick it on the refrigerator or mail it to mommy or daddy serving overseas. It’s both a distraction and a memory for when the world returns to normal. Another opportunity, to engage your children is on April 19. That’s “Humorous Day.” Ask them “Why did the student eat their homework.” The proper response is “Because the teacher told them it was a piece of cake.” Then go on-line with them to find other jokes and puns to share. Another April indoor activity could be to teach your young ones how to make and enjoy an American original dish. That’s “Pigs in a Blanket Day,” on April 24. The dish is easy to teach. It only has two ingredients and they aren’t likely being hoarded right now! You can also go outside in your yard to celebrate Arbor Day or Earth Day. Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 every year. It grew out of pro-environmental demonstrations back in 1970. It is a day to in- spire education, awareness and appreciation about the earth’s environment. Arbor Day is on April 24, the last Friday of April each year. It is a holiday created to recognize the importance of trees. Either day is a perfect day to get outside, plant a tree, start a garden or share your views of the environment with the next generation. Did you know that April 18, is Pet Owner’s Day? It’s a time to celebrate Khaleesi, Tonka or Abby. Maybe your pet isn’t a dog but a cat. Flood your thread with cute kitten pictures. If your pet is a turtle, fish, rabbit, bird or other animal show them love too! Finally, April 26 is one event I hope to be able to do in person. It’s “Hug a Friend Day.” But if I can’t, there will be plenty of chats and online virtual hugs to be sent. As Jolson sang, just remember: “Though April showers may come your way, they bring the flowers that bloom in May.”

‘Child care’ from page 1 We are indeed facing challenging times again in Sonoma County. We can face these challenges as we have in the past together and we will come through the other side. Our small child care centers and home businesses may not make it through this time - It will be critical that we support child care busi- nesses to survive beyond the shelter in place as our access to essential child care slots will be greatly reduced not only in times of crisis but every day. 4Cs is currently soliciting information from all Sonoma County child care providers to understand their status and working closely with our local Emergency Operations Center and Health Care Providers to determine emergency child care needs. Our hope is that our existing programs can care for the chil- dren of our emergency workers supplemented by Emergency Pop Up Child Care spaces as needed. It is critical as we move forward that we look towards ways to support our child care businesses and ensure their long term viability. 4Cs will continue to be a resource around child care for our community during this difficult time. SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 947 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROHNERT PARK, CALIFORNIA AMENDING MUNICIPAL CODE TITLE 17 (ZONING) TO MODIFY TELECOMMUNICATIONS REGULATIONS

Pursuant to Government Code Section 36933 (c), the following constitutes a summary of Ordinance No. 947 introduced by the Rohnert Park City Council on March 10, 2020, and adopted on March 24, 2020 at its meeting held in the City Council Chambers, 130 Avram Avenue, Rohnert Park, California.

The ordinance would amend Section 17.07.020 (Footnotes) to add subsection E (Wire- less Communication Facilities) and to repeal subsection E (Communication Facilities) and replace with subsection F (Amateur Radio Service Installations). The following is a summary of the updates:

• Updated regulations for amateur radio are included in this update. The text currently in Subsection F (Communication Facilities) would be deleted and replaced with a new footnote F (Amateur Radio Service Installations). • Federal regulations require that small cell facilities are permitted in the public right of way and that defined "eligible facilities" are permitted with an administrative permit. The updated regulations provide a permitting process for these facilities within time limits established by federal regulations. • The new regulations encourage that wireless service providers enter into master permits with the City to streamline processing and to ensure that these facilities are installed safely. • Due to the requirement that many types of wireless facilities must be approved administratively, standard conditions (COAs) have been incorporated into the zoning ordinance. This allows for applications to be more quickly processed and appropriate COAs to be applied. • The safety of wireless radio frequency output is regulated by the FCC. The City cannot deviate from the FCC standards. The City can require documentation and testing to ensure that the operation is safe and test provisions are included in the new ordinance. • A significant concern is that equipment could be abandoned as technology improves. A condition of approval would require removal after 30 days of non-use. Master agreements would contain provisions to guarantee removal. • The City has limited ability to prevent the installation of a wireless facility. However, the new ordinance would establish preferences to encourage the location of wireless equipment on existing structures and within non-residential areas. • The new code language includes provisions to limit the height and bulk of equipment and to require concealment of telecommunication towers. Operation and maintenance standards would also be added.

A certified copy of the full text of the Ordinance is posted and available for review in the City Clerk’s Office at 130 Avram Avenue, Rohnert Park, California. This ordinance shall be in full force and effective thirty (30) days after its adoption, and published and posted as required by law. This ordinance was introduced by the Council of the City of Rohnert Park on March 10, 2020 and adopted on March 24, 2020 by the following roll call vote: AYES: (5) Councilmembers Adams, Belforte, Stafford, Vice Mayor Mackenzie and Mayor Callinan NOES: (0) None ABSENT: (0) None ABSTAIN: (0) None

Local financial advisors like Krista Neary are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of clients, associates, families and communities. To help mitigate this crisis, they are suspending face-to- face visits with clients, holding virtual meetings and training sessions and ensuring office spaces and sanitized and disinfected. Of course, people’s financial situations also weigh on their minds. The current market selloff is cer- tainly concerning but it seems to be driven more by fear and panic than by economic or financial real- ity. Monetary and fiscal policy are necessary, but at the end of the day it will be the medical progress that will dictate the timeline for reducing market volatility and the ultimate rebound in stocks. Edward Jones expects daily volatility to persist until new virus cases begin to slow but investors should find optimism in these facts: unemployment is near a 50-year low with solid wage growth; there’s been an uptick in the housing market, which may accelerate due to declining mortgage rates and the Federal Reserve has cut short-term interest rates back to near zero percent. Furthermore, the drop in investment prices may indicate that the financial markets have already “priced in” the likelihood of a short-term recession. This could mean that investors have already endured much of the stock market pain. Yet, even a short recession is of concern since it’s likely to bring at least a temporary disruption to an otherwise strong labor market. First remember why you are investing. With the market decline, people will be tempted to change their investment strategies. But they need to keep in mind the most of their financial goals, such as a comfortable retirement are long-term in nature-a lot longer-germ than the shelf life of the coronavirus. If investors have established a long-term strategy that is appropriate for their needs, they should stick with it regardless of today’s headlines. However, individuals who are particularly concerned over the current results of their investment statements might want to evaluate their risk tolerance. For those who may be losing sleep over what is going on in the markets, it is possible the portfolio is positioned too aggressively for the amount of risk that feels comfortable. In that case, investors are advised to work with their financial advisor to consider adjusting the investment mix to include more fixed-income securities, which can provide some downside protection; but there is a trade-off because this might be affecting long-term growth poten- tial. Finally, now might actually be a good time for investors to consider actually adding to their portfolios. Right now, many stocks are at their best values in more than a decade. For those those needing to re- balance a portfolio, this could be a good time to do so. Ultimately, investors need to realize that while these are somewhat uncharted time, the temptation to panic should be fought. Emotions are running high right now and while everyone’s top priority should be to protect themselves, their families and communities, it is still important not to lose sight of their financial well-being. For that, the best thing to do is look past short-term downturns and maintain the discipline to keep investing in all types of markets.
