Media Release For Immediate Release | August 21, 2019 GOLF CANADA AND LPGA TOUR SHARE EXCITEMENT HEADING INTO 2019 CP WOMEN’S OPEN - News and notes from Magna Golf Club for Wednesday, August 21st - AURORA, Ont. – Golf Canada’s CEO, Laurence Applebaum, is already thrilled with how tournament week has unfolded at Magna Golf Club and the 2019 CP Women’s Open hasn’t even officially begun. On Wednesday, Applebaum and LPGA Tour commissioner Mike Whan spoke with media, and the pair were full of praise for Canadian golf fans and tournament partners, so far this week. “This is a week we've been looking forward to for a long time,” said Applebaum. “Ever since Brooke (Henderson) hoisted our national championship trophy a year ago in Wascana, we knew we'd be coming to a spectacular golf club (this year), with an amazing turnout for the week ahead, and we couldn't be more excited to watch Brooke as well as all our 15 Canadians who are in the draw along with 96 out of the top 100 LPGA Tour players. “We're so thankful the LPGA Tour has made this such an important stop on their global tour.” Whan, who played in the Championship Pro-Am Wednesday alongside Applebaum in a group with Golf Canada Young Pro Squad member Maddie Szeryk and Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship winner Jennifer Kupcho, said the experience at the CP Women’s Open this week at Magna Golf Club has been nothing short of spectacular. “This is elite. It has been elite for a long time,” Whan said of the CP Women’s Open.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans Record Book (est. 2017, thru 2019) *2017 & 2018 Format Information: An historic change was made to the format of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2017, making the event a two-player team event featuring Foursomes (alternate shot) during the first and third rounds and Four-ball (best ball) during the second and fourth rounds. A change was made at the 2018 Zurich Classic of New Orleans , with the two formats switching rotations. Rounds one and three in the two-player team event featured the Four-ball (best ball) format, while the second and fourth rounds used the Foursomes (alternate shot) format. Since the formation of the PGA TOUR (1968), the Zurich Classic became the first official event to utilize Foursomes as part of a team competition. The 2017 Zurich Classic was the first official PGA TOUR team event in 36 years. Before that, the last official PGA TOUR team event was the 1981 Walt Disney World National Team Championship held at the Magnolia, Palm and Lake Buena Vista courses at Disney. Vance Heafner and Mike Holland won that title. The tournament became an individual stroke-play event in 1982. The Zurich Classic awards FedExCup points and official money and counts as an official victory for the members of the winning team. Name Scores 1 Grayson Murray 64 (-7) Charlie Saxon 64 (-7) 3 Tyler Duncan 65 (-6) Hank Lebioda 65 (-6) Mark Anderson 65 (-6) Tom Hoge 65 (-6) Full Leaderboard | Tee Times Grayson Murray, Charlie Saxon share first-round lead at Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Nabisco BOISE, Idaho — Grayson Murray and Charlie Saxon carded rounds of 7-under 64 at Hillcrest Country Club and share the first-round lead at the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Nabisco. In the second of three tournaments in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, Murray is looking to strengthen his status on the PGA TOUR for the 2019-20 season, while Saxon has a chance to earn his TOUR card for the first time. Murray was exempt on the PGA TOUR this season by virtue of his win at the 2017 Barbasol Championship, but his year was cut short by a lower-back injury that originated in 2018. After he “tweaked it pretty bad” at the Valero Texas Open in April, Murray withdrew and didn’t touch a club for two months in order for the inflammation to reduce. His first start after the injury was a T2 finish at the REX Hospital Open in June, and he’s coming off a T23 finish at the first Finals event, the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship. He took a medical exemption and will have 12 starts on TOUR next season, but a finish in The Finals 25 will guarantee him a full schedule for 2019-20.
