Job description: Project Coordinator (Freelance) Post title Project Coordinator (freelance) Fixed-term freelance Until 31 December 2021 contract Salary £100 per day (£26,000 FTE) Line Management Director Hours 37.5 hours per week Location Currently this will be mainly remote working but you will be required to attend meetings and events across the four districts of Bolsover, Mansfield, Ashfield and North East Derbyshire on a regular basis This is a short fixed-term post until December 2021. We are seeking a dedicated self-starter who is keen to develop their skills and experience through this short-term freelance position About First Art Based in the East Midlands, First Art works to bring inspirational cultural experiences within reach of everyone living in Ashfield, Bolsover, Mansfield and North East Derbyshire, whilst also helping local people to produce and shape their own cultural experiences and events. First Art is a CPP (Creative People and Places) project, part of the national programme funded by Arts Council England, working in areas where arts engagement is significantly below the national average. The project, which started in 2017, is currently in Phase Two (2019 -2022) of its delivery. First Art delivers a diverse arts programme across the North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire. The programme ranges from putting on outdoor arts festivals to supporting family art events in communities. A wide range of opportunities to take part are presented to local people and partners so they can have their say and help us to develop more quality art events and activities in these communities. First Art is a registered charity (no. 1193429) led by a consortium made up of Creswell Crags, Junction Arts, The Prince’s Trust and Ault Hucknall Environment Action Group. About the role The Project Coordinator will coordinate the day-to-day delivery of our artistic programme, which includes our Social and Presents programme, working across 4 districts with local communities to co- produce and deliver events. See our site for details on our programme www.firstart.org.uk/things- we-do At the heart of our programme are local communities and through our Social programme, a large part of the role will be to build projects and events with communities across the 4 districts up until Christmas 2021. As the Project Coordinator you will be an integral part of the team to support the delivery of our programme in order for us to reach our objectives and targets. The role will help develop, plan and deliver events and projects whilst supporting the First Art team with the management and coordination of the First Art artistic programme. This includes administration, marketing, evaluation and general support for the day-to-day activities of our work across the four districts we work in. Candidates First Art is seeking an organised, reliable and self-motivated individual to join the team as Freelance Project Coordinator. The candidate will be expected to work proactively on multiple projects and activities and will build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders, from artists to people in communities, as well as partners and funders. You must have experience in project administration/coordination and/or delivering or overseeing delivery of community-based projects. Where you’ll be based Currently, First Art does not have an office base and all staff are working from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This role will operate on a remote/home working basis until a suitable office space is secured. Due to the nature of the work, you will be required to attend meetings and events across the four districts. When an office is in place, home and remote working options will be possible at times. Equality, diversity and inclusion First Art particularly welcomes applications from individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, from low income backgrounds and disabled people, all who are currently underrepresented in the workforce of the arts sector in the UK. www.firstart.org.uk KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaboration with the other members of the team in planning projects and contributing to the successful running and development of the artistic programme Developing and maintaining excellent networks and relationships with key stakeholders, such as artists, community organisations and local government Event planning, support with scheduling, logistics and delivery (coordinating the support/input of partners, volunteers, artists, venues, etc.) To support the Marketing and Audience Development Manager with adding content to the First Art website and social media pages Help coordinate and facilitate the First Art Social meetings with local communities by planning sessions, taking minutes etc. Coordinating event logistics including production support, equipment hire and travel and accommodation Provide point of contact and support for local communities, artists and volunteers as well as responding to general public queries via phone and email To support and assist as necessary with data collection and evaluation across the First Art programme including distribution and circulation of evaluation forms Undertaking other duties associated with projects as deemed appropriate To liaise with venues, festivals and other bookers in relation to logistics and scheduling Personal skills and qualities Proven project coordination and administration skills Excellent verbal and written communications skills Ability to multi-task and be agile Good time management and ability to meet deadlines Strong attention to detail Used to working in a busy environment to tight deadlines Ability to work on complex projects with many stakeholders and partners Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Desirable Full driving licence and own transport Experience in working on arts projects Experience of using social media Knowledge of the local area and preferably located in either Mansfield, Ashfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire How to apply A covering letter – stating why you wish to apply and outlining your relevant skills.
