2016-11-29 13:59 CET will play NorthSide

The exceptional singer will play his first ever Danish festival show at NorthSide

The two most anticipated releases this year have come from Radiohead and Frank Ocean and having already put the English band on the poster, it's great to now be able to add another headliner in the form of the extremely talented and always surprising Frank Ocean.

It's been incredibly exciting to follow Frank Ocean's career from the release of "Nostalgia, Ultra" - a , which included the singles "" and "Novacane" - to collaborations with Odd and Jay-Z and not to mention Beyoncé, , and , who have drawn on Frank Ocean's unique ability to write beautiful and heartfelt songs. But his most important contribution to the history of music is obviously the "" and the long-awaited "Blonde".

The debut was universally hailed as a masterpiece and the mystique of Frank Ocean as a person and his decision to play a select few concerts only made people’s curiosity greater. Therefore, there was enormous pressure on the then 25-year-old singer to come up with a quick sequel that could build on the great success and the even greater interest in the unique talent. Instead, Frank Ocean disappeared from the Earth's surface and appeared only rarely until he in July 2016 began to drop hints that he would release an album this year.

After numerous fake outs, "Blonde" was officially released in August, and the result was an album that is unpolished, challenging, beautiful, and unlike anything else you'll find on the music scene today.

Frank Ocean has only visited Denmark once. It was in 2013, when he played in Copenhagen, and since then concerts anywhere have been few and far between. Therefore, it is quite exceptional that Frank Ocean has agreed to play his first Danish festival show at NorthSide - which is one of only a few festival shows worldwide.

Frank Ocean will play Friday, June 9th at NorthSide

- We are very excited that we have managed to get our guests’ two most requested acts for next year's NorthSide line-up. Radiohead and Frank Ocean are very rare guests in this country, so it's absolutely amazing that we’ve managed to book them both for the same year, says spokesman for NorthSide, John Fogde, who expects this will add even more momentum to the interest in tickets, which are already selling faster than at any time before in the festival's history.

The line-up for NorthSide 2017 so far is as follows: Radiohead, Frank Ocean, , Bastille, Thomas Helmig, MØ, Veronica Maggio, Phlake, Liss, and Bisse.

NorthSide 2017 can be experienced in Aarhus, Denmark on the 9th – 11th of June 2017 and tickets are available through NorthSide.dk.
