The preferred alternative involves a Diverging Diamond Design on US 20A with a CD road connection along I-475 to the Salisbury Road / Dussel Drive Interchange 0.7 miles north. The project addresses accessibility issues and deficiencies within a high commercial and industrial area of Lucas County, including the Toledo Express Airport located 6 miles west as identified in its Environs Plan. There are over 1000 developed acres adjacent to the US 20A site, 3 business parks, with over 380 businesses, 16,000 employees and $679 million annual payroll. The businesses include a UPS hub, corporate headquarters for The Dana Corp. The Anderson's Inc., and Therma-Tru Door. A connection at US 20A provides accessibility to the Toledo Express Airport identified as a commercial airport located 6 miles to the west. The proposed CD roadway connects to the Salisbury / Dussel interchange which is the signed route to exit 59 of the Ohio Turnpike which is identified as a National Highway Corridor.
