Biltmore Estate tour

Helen Town —Dahlonega Day 4

Head to north to Dahlonega which is a site of the first major U.S. Gold Rush. And then visit Stone Mountain Park.

The town started as a home to the Cherokee, and then to European settlers who came for the gold and the timber. Today, people come for our Blue Ridge Mountain setting and the Southeast’s finest Bavarian Village•a glimpse of Germany, right here in Georgia.

❖ Dahlonega Consolidated Gold Mine The Consolidated Mine was a gold mine in Lumpkin County, Georgia, United States, just east of Dahlonega. Like most of the area around Dahlonega, the placer mining on the land on which the mine is located probably started during the Georgia Gold Rush. By 1880, the placer deposits were exhausted, and the land was down to hard rock.
