The two teams have played every year continuously from 1991, but the series reaches back all the way to 1926 to 1928 and 1931 to 1932, as well as a four-game string in the 1970s and a three-game run in the 1980s before the Skyhawks joined the OVC. While it isn’t Tech’s longest-running series, it is definitely its oldest at 92 years old. UTM head coach Jason Simpson is 8-4 against the Golden Eagles, while Dewayne Alexander has never faced the Skyhawks as a head coach. Alexander is in his fourth tenure with the Golden Eagles, serving as a GA running backs coach in QUICK FACTS 1997-98, defensive line coach in 2002-03, assistant head coach and offensive line coach from 2013-15 and was the acting head coach after Watson Brown resigned in 2015.
