History of The monument was erected in memory of David Pitcairn of Dreghorn, and was restored in 1864 by the Commission architect John Nicol. Mr Wilkie of Juniper Green executed the mason work, and Mr R. Nicol engraved : the brass plate. The restoration was paid for by Pitcairn's descendants, including the Earl of Minto, Baroness Dunfermline and Countess Russell.
