New rules for Debit card use Inventory information approval systems
Effective January 1, 2008, grocery stores and discount stores (e.g. Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club) are required by the IRS to have an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS) in place. This system will determine which health care items you are allowed to purchase with your TRI-AD FlexCardsm. You will only be able to pay for eligible health care items with the card, and must pay for ineligible items with another form of payment. Drug stores and pharmacies will have the same requirements to have IIAS systems in place by January 1, 2009. Many of these stores will have IIAS ready earlier. Below is a list of participating stores and the dates that they intend to comply with the new rules. Stores marked “Live” have already implemented IIAS systems. FlexCard transactions at some stores below may be denied before the dates shown.
