Abstract: This is the first report of two ectoparasitoid wasps, Elachertus inunctus (Nees, 1834) in Iran and Elachertus pulcher (Erdös, 1961) (Hym.: Eulophidae) in the world, that parasitize larvae of the tomato leaf miner, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) (Lep.: Gelechiidae). The specimens were collected from tomato fields and greenhouses in Ahwaz, Khouzestan province (south west of Iran). Both species are new records for fauna of Iran. The knowledge about these parasitoids is still scanty. The potential of these parasitoids for biological control of T. absoluta in tomato fields and greenhouses should be investigated. A list of the species from Iran belonging to the subfamilies Eulophinae, Entedoninae and Tetrastichinae is presented. In the present work 47 species from 22 genera are recorded from Iran. Two species (Cirrospilus scapus sp. nov. and Aprostocetus persicus sp. nov.) are described as new. A list of 45 host-parasitoid associations in Iran and keys to Iranian species of three genera (Cirrospilus, Diglyphus and Aprostocetus) are included. Zusammenfassung Dieser Artikel zeigt den derzeitigen Untersuchungsstand an eulophiden Wespen und ihrer Wirte im Iran. Eine Liste der für den Iran festgestellten Arten der Unterfamilien Eu- lophinae, Entedoninae und Tetrastichinae wird präsentiert. Mit vorliegender Arbeit werden 47 Arten in 22 Gattungen aus dem Iran nachgewiesen. Zwei neue Arten (Cirrospilus sca- pus sp. nov. und Aprostocetus persicus sp. nov.) werden beschrieben. Eine Liste von 45 Wirts- und Parasitoid-Beziehungen im Iran und ein Schlüssel für 3 Gattungen (Cirro- spilus, Diglyphus und Aprostocetus) sind in der Arbeit enthalten. -

A cladistic analysis of known species of both Hemiptarsenus Westwood and Sympiesis Förster (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) in Hungary was carried out based on 176 morphological characters from adults. Three most-parsi- monious trees (MPTs) were produced, strictly consensused, and rerooted. Monophyly of Sympiesis was sup- ported by all 3 MPTs. A review of the genera Hemiptarsenus Westwood and Sympiesis Förster was made based on the results of the cladistic analysis. Sympiesis petiolata was transferred into Hemiptarsenus. The banana skipper or banana leaf-roller or red eye skipper, Erionota torus is a common banana pest in Southeast Asia. The larva causes considerable damage to foliage of banana by rolling the leaf while feeding on it. Elasmus brevicornis Gahan (Chalcidoidea: Eulophidae:Eulophinae) is redescribed and illustrated. Previously E. brevicornis has been reported from various lepidopteran pests including Erionata thrax L. although it is reported first time from E. torus. This offers new perspectives for the use of this parasitic wasp in biological control programmes against this destructive pest. Introduction Eulophidae is one of the largest families of Chalcidoidea. In Poland, 282 species have been recorded so far (WIŚNIOWSKI 1997); however, this group is poorly studied in our country, and contemporary faunistic studies provide data on its representatives sporadically (WIŚNIOWSKI 2007). Similarly to other minute Hymnopterans (Chalcidoidea, Platygastroidea, Ceraphronoidea, etc.), it results from little popularity of these insects among entomologists, consequent upon difficulties with species identification. Many Eulophidae representatives are parasitoids of insects that have a certain economic impact (e.g. crop pests), hence the fragmentary and dispersed data on some of Chalcidoidea can not only be found in the Polish faunistic literature, but also in studies concerning forestry or plant cultivation (np. The attack behavior of Elaumus polistis Burks in the nest cells of Polistes versicolor (Oliver) was recorded for the first time in South America. We observed that E. polistis flies in front of the P. versicolor nest, enters inside it and oviposits on wasps prepupae and pupae, possibly through the cells that compose the nest. Despite the obvious defensive behavior of the wasps described here, we found that E. polistis is efficient in parasitizing the pupae. Most of eulophines are ectoparasitoids that attack concealed hosts in protected situations, such as leafminers, woodborers and leaf rollers. The subfamily are frequently involved in biological control programs directed against dipteran and lepidopteran leaf-mining pests, and many eulophine genera have been considered economically important. The taxonomy and distribution of the species in Asia, especially in Java, are however still poorly studied despite the fact that the subfamily is an important group for sustainable agriculture. This study is based on the specimens newly collected from many localities in Java and Bali using sweep netting, Malaise trapping, yellow-pan trapping and rearing from their hosts. All the three tribes (Elasmini, Cirrospilini and Eulophini) of the subfamily Eulophinae are recognized in the islands. A single genus of Elamini, three genera of Cirrospilini and 19 genera of Eulophini are recognized in the islands and they included 14 genera as new records for the islands and 66 undescribed species. A total of 110 species are recognized in Java and Bali; of those about 86% are new records for the islands and about 60% are undescribed species.
