The Seattle Seahawks Come to Terms with RB Rashaad Penny The Seattle Seahawks Come To Terms With RB Rashaad Penny Author : David Levin The Seattle Seahawks and their first-round draft pick Rashaad Penny have come to terms on a four-year rookie deal with a fifth-year option. The team announced the signing on Wednesday. Per Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com, Seattle spent its No. 27 overall selection on the San Diego State running back, who, as the second tailback off the board, was considered a surprising choice at the time. But the Seahawks thought very highly of Penny, so much so that they would have selected him at No. 18 if they hadn't traded out of that spot, NFL Network's Omar Ruiz reported during rookie minicamp. Rashaad Penny was considered one of the better running backs in this year’s NFL Draft was still slotted to be selected in the second round. Rashaad Penny does fit the Seahawks offensive style and could also become a solid pass catcher out of the backfield. Penny joins a backfield already populated by 2017 draft pick Chris Carson, 2016 selection C.J. Prosise, Mike Davis and J.D. McKissic. But none of those runners led the Seahawks in rushing last season. That honor 1 / 2 belongs to quarterback Russell Wilson (586 yards). The Seahawks missed the playoffs in 2017 and look to restock their roster with young talent on offense and make changes to the former Legion of Boom defense that was one of the best in the NFL over the past six seasons. Penny adds another element of speed and agility to compliment quarterback Russell Wilson. "I feel like how they run the same offense, it's gonna be the same thing as San Diego State. Stretch plays, the inside zones," Penny told Ruiz. "I know the other running backs, we all got to compete to do our job. It's an amazing feeling. I love being here because I feel the same tradition as San Diego State of running the ball. They're a run-oriented team. You got to stop the run, and if you stop the run, we're got to throw the play action over you." Rashaad Penny was productive in college at San Diego State. He led the nation with 2,248 rushing yards and scored 23 touchdowns on 289 carries, finishing fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting and garnering first-team All-American and All-Mountain West honors. Penny also caught 19 passes for 135 yards and two scores and scored twice on kickoff returns, averaging 30.6 yards on 17 attempts (ranked fifth in the FBS). He also scored a 70-yard touchdown on one of his two punt returns for the year. 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).

  • GREEN BAY PACKERS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS November 15, 2018
THURSDAY NIGHT PREVIEW: GREEN BAY PACKERS AT SEATTLE SEAHAWKS November 15, 2018 Week 11 kicks off on Thursday, November 15 (8:20 PM ET, FOX/NFL Network/Amazon Prime) with the Green Bay Packers travelling to Seattle to take on the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field. Thursday marks the 22nd meeting between the teams (including the playoffs), with Green Bay leading the all-time series, 13-8. In their last game, Packers quarterback AARON RODGERS passed for 311 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay’s 17-9 home win on September 10, 2017. In Week 10, Packers running back AARON JONES recorded a career-high 172 scrimmage yards (145 rushing, 27 receiving) and two rushing touchdowns in the team’s 31-12 victory against Miami. Rodgers connected with wide receiver DAVANTE ADAMS, who leads the NFC with nine touchdown catches this season, for two scores in the contest and linebacker BLAKE MARTINEZ, whose 221 tackles since 2017 are the most by any player in the NFL, led the team with nine tackles. Last week, Seattle quarterback RUSSELL WILSON threw three touchdown passes and no interceptions for a 123.2 passer rating and added 92 rushing yards while rookie running back RASHAAD PENNY, the Seahawks’ 2018 first-round pick, rushed for a career-high 108 yards and his first-career touchdown in the Seahawks’ loss at the Los Angeles Rams. The Seahawks are the only team in the NFL to have three different players rush for at least 100 yards in a game this season: Penny, running back CHRIS CARSON and running back MIKE DAVIS.

  • VIKINGS HEAD COACH MIKE ZIMMER (Thoughts on the Game…)
VIKINGS HEAD COACH MIKE ZIMMER (Thoughts on the game…) “I thought we played well in the first half. We didn’t play well in the second half. We made too many mistakes. We didn’t play the running game as well defensively tonight, so that played a factor in it. Some of the things we are trying to get done, we got better at tonight. We just have to continue to get better. It’s not the end of the world, it’s a four game season left. We are still in good shape, we are still a good football team.” (Is Dalvin Cook’s injury anything to be concerned about…) “No.” (Why did the run defense give up two hundred plus yards tonight…) “Well there was probably forty to fifty yards on the (fake) punt return, so that counts. I’m assuming we got knocked out of some gaps and didn’t get off blocks.” (What happened with defensive coverage on the 60 yard touchdown pass to David Moore?) I’m not going to explain exactly what was supposed to happen, we had a busted coverage.” (What did you see from Seattle in the second half after they only scored 10 points in the first half. Was it the coverage busts…) “Well that one didn’t help. We had a couple of turnovers I think in the second half. That didn’t any help either.” (Are you concerned with the way that Xavier Rhodes displays his emotions…) “Yes, we have to control our emotions a lot better than that.” (How do you think Kirk Cousins did tonight…) “I thought he did well.
