What are the art terms of the day? Cityscape
A few weeks ago, we talked about the artists Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn and Diego Velázquez. We were comparing portraits, group portraits and genre painting.
Last week we be learned about seascapes and the artist J.M.W. Turner.
Today we are talking about cityscapes. This lesson is part of an overall plan to learn about various subject matter in art. We will also be reviewing the following elements of art and the principles of design: 1. Texture 2. Shape 3. Variety

Activity
1. Making a cityscape out of cardboard scraps. (there will be alternative ideas and plans too) 2. Please look through the whole plan and then make your cityscape with the supplies you have at home or feel most comfortable using.
Quick Lesson Reminders / Tips
3. Remember to check with an adult at home before getting out supplies and going on websites.
Ask an adult to photograph your finished art and send it to your art teacher (see list above). Parents when you email us your child’s artwork to their art teacher please include the following info in the subject line. The student’s first & last name, grade, and homeroom teacher. Thank you from the art department.
Remember to be safe, responsible, and respectful by asking permission, thanking your family for their help and by cleaning up after yourself.

Create a cityscape in a medium (supplies) of your choice. • For example, a drawing of a city with the supplies you have at home. • Last week I included a link to a free computer paint program if you want to do your artwork on that site if you do not have supplies or want to try something different.
