UN Security Stops Journalist’s Questions About ClimateGate by Mike Flynn

A Stanford Professor has used United Nation security officers to silence a journalist asking him “inconvenient questions” during a press briefing at the climate change conference in Copenhagen.

Professor Stephen Schneider’s assistant requested armed UN security officers who held film maker Phelim McAleer, ordered him to stop filming and prevented further questioning after the press conference where the Stanford academic was launching a book.

McAleer, a veteran journalist and film maker, has recently made a documentary “Not Evil Just Wrong’ which takes a sceptical look at the science and politics behind Global Warming concerns.

He asked Professor Schneider about his opinions on Climategate – where leaked emails have revealed that a senior British professor deleted data and encouraged colleagues to do likewise if it contradicted their belief in Global Warming.

Professor Phil Jones, the head of Britain’s Climate Research Unit, has temporarily stood down pending an investigation into the scandal.

Professor Schneider, who is a senior member of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), said he would not comment on emails that may have been incomplete or edited.

During some testy exchanges with McAleer, UN officials and Professor Schneider’s assistants twice tried to cut short McAleer’s question.

However as the press conference drew to a close Professor Schneider’s assistant called armed UN security guards to the room. They held McAleer and aggressively ordered cameraman Ian Foster to stop filming. The guard threatened to take away the camera and expel the film crew from the conference if they did not obey his instructions to stop filming Professor Schneider.

The guard demanded to look at the film crews press credentials and refused to allow them to film until Professor Schneider left the room. McAleer said he was disappointed by Professor Schneider’s behaviour.

“It was a press conference. Climategate is a major story – it goes to the heart of the Global Warming debate by calling into question the scientific data and the integrity of many scientists involved.”

“These questions should be answered. The attempts by UN officials and Professor Schneider’s assistant to remove my microphone were hamfisted but events took a more sinister turn when they called an armed UN security officer to silence a journalist.”

Two officers corralled the film crew and one officer can be seen on tape threatening the cameraman. The Guard can also be heard warning that if the crew did not stop filming their would seize the equipment and the journalists expelled from the conference.

McAleer says he has made an official complaint about the incident.

“I have met Mr Christopher Ankerson the UN’s head of security for the conference and he has confirmed it was Professor Schneider’s staff who asked the security guards to come corral us at the press conference. Mr Ankerson could not say what grounds the security guard had for ordering us to stop filming.”

“This is a blatant attempt to stop journalists doing journalism and asking hard questions. It is not the job of armed UN security officers to stop legitimate journalists asking legitimate questions of senior members of the UN’s IPCC.”

Professor Schneider was interviewed for McAleer’s “Not Evil Just Wrong” documentary but lawyers later wrote to McAleer saying he was withdrawing permission for the interview to be used.

McAleer, who is from Ireland, has gained quite a reputation for asking difficult questions of those who have been promoting the idea of man-made Global Warming.

His microphone was cut off after he asked former vice-president Al Gore about the British court case which found that An Inconvenient Truth had a nine significant errors and exaggerations. Almost 500,000 people have watched the incident on youtube.

Wow. I guess the "Climate Debate" is now the "Climate Monologue." Good thing the UN is on US soil or free speech would be squelched. I hope the inevitabel lawsuits against EPA endangerment finding can lead to real questions, under oath of these weenies. May turn out to be the best thing Obama has done to foster real "debate."

I have a question: Why do certain people even after discovering they have been lied to and manipulated still continue to believe what they know in their heart of hearts is a lie. Phelim McCleer is merely doing his job as a journalist. Apparently Schneider in the face of having to answer a question he knows is going to negate his theory if he answers is cannot find the courage to stand in the face of one of the few people to ask these questions and answer them. Apparently even after the man in charge of the UK's Climate Research Unit steps down we speed up instead of going oh perhaps we are too hasty.

But someone has to say um there is no such thing has human induced Climate Change and the subtext of those words should be and the ones creating teh hysteria and filling kids heads with this garbage know it. What is behind this denial of data dumping and research shennanagins? Fear or political cynicism. Pure and simple. Either Schneider really is a fanatic and cannot allow himself to be honest and say he is wrong or he is a cynic and he understands that his "theorys" has to more do with politics and his obvious socialistic view of the world than it does good science. Of course, he does science a disservice but he doesn't care. The goal is control of human beings not good earth stewardship.

It just keeps getting more and more amazing that they're all not just under American scrutiny but world scrutiny and they just keep lying.It's the American president who's making sure that the American taxpayers get hosed the worst.

What seems to have motivated the scientists involved in Climategate was the arrogant belief that that the way to save the world was to conceal or misrepresent ambiguous and contradictory findings about global warming that might “confuse” the public. I have to disagree with Mr. McAleer on the title of his documentary “Not Evil Just Wrong” it has been inappropriately named, it should be "Evil and Wrong"!

Any group that thinks they are above answering questions on an issue they are promoting and has shown its ill intent is evil!! But I give Mr. Mc Aleer kudos for having the guts to go after these people, he is a great man driven by knowledge and not greed! Which I thought the left was suppose to be all about….

One last thing about the EPA. An EPA reg is not a Law. As far as Im concerned, the EPA declaring co2 a "hazard" does not carry the power of enforcement. So to any business owners out there, I say ignore them. I personally refuse to make ALWHORE or MONKEY MOON any wealthier or more authoritative. Same with the punk in the white house now. Humans can put incredible amounts of energy into denial as a form of protecting their fragile psyches. Ever read any profiles about victims of Nigerian e-mail scams? Even after they've bankrupted their families and/or been caught stealing or embezzling to keep the scammer going, they keep believing there will be a payout. It's too devastating to their self-image and self-esteem to admit how stupid/gullible they were.

Very similar to true-believers in AGW. The difference is that the payout the AGW marks are expecting–and Gore and his crew give them bits here and there to keep them playing along–is psychological ("I saved the planet!") instead of financial.

I can't imagine how sad and empty one's life must be if washing their garbage, or paying extra money for "green" products, or voluntarily submitting to tyranny is what gives it meaning. If they weren't so eager to enslave me right along with themselves, I'd feel sorry for them.

If the rude film maker had simply allowed the press conference to proceed without forcing the interruption; chances are Professor Schneider would have ended up providing answers to similar questions when more mannerly journalists questioned him.

There really wouldn't be a problem if they'd stop creating a problem by evading answers and refusing to give up the original data/methods of obtaining said data.

I mean, really… it's almost like they admit that they're making it all up. It's not like you'd see Isaac Newton trying to evade questions or evade giving out the data that shows how he came up with the theory of gravity. If they've got the evidence to back it up, why wouldn't they show it and stop beating around the bush?

We who oppose this totalitarian move by the one-world government promoters need to speak forcefully and with one voice. This is NOT science! It is RELIGION! Some good reporter…….and many years ago I was…….should now check and see how much grant money this cowardly professor has received from those who pretend to believe "climate change" is a terrible thing. Where I live the climate has constantly changed for centuries. The cowardly professor should also be question about changing the complaint from global warming to climate change. The answer, of course, is the Earth has been cooling since 1998, but I'm betting the cowardly professor would choke on the question. Every believer in global warming should be forced to read all the printed material and data from the 1970s when so-called scientists warned of global cooling, a coming ice age, and death from starvation of half the world's people by the year 2000 because it would be too cold to grow food.

I'm just going to keep posting the same thing so that as many people as possible will see it.

I HAVE PERSONALLY COLLECTED 150 REPORTS OF RECORD AND NEAR RECORD COLD TEMPS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. It snowed THREE times here where I live, in the CA high desert, last winter. One snow was 14". Our last recorded snow of that volume was in the 30's. I don't think we've ever had 3 snows in one winter here.

I considered printing all of the reports and mailing them to my senators, governor, the "climate czar", (gag me), the president and others but they don't care and they won't read them. I am going to create a website where I can upload these reports and then try to get the word out. Don't know exactly when I can do it but hopefully, soon.

I'm only somewhat internet savvy. Hopefully, I can put the web address into my info that is connected to my name here, HAHAalgoreHAHA.

Scientists were Galileo's first opponents. This kind of behavior has a long history in science. There are stretches of great discovery and cooperation. And then there are stretches of entrenchment and graft. It doesn't mean we should stop science, but it does mean we need more transparency in science, particularly the kind that influences policy.

Fortunately, around the globe voices are being heard and they are letting their gov know they are pissed off. This isn’t just the US… I saw a Malaysian article basically stating that they don’t want to be part of the scam. In GB also. Article that over $5B was made (or more) via a carbon scam. Some say 90% in some countries have been carbon-scammed this year.

BTW: How did all that oil get under the desert in the Middle East? It is a desert and oil is formed in the sea and on land via organic materials that break down over time… hmmmm. Kinda reminds me of the politician in California, that had fought to have a measure put on the ballot to have di-hydrogen oxide declared harmful, and have it banned from use, because 'several thousand people a year die from it'. It wasn't until a secretary in his office pointed out to him, the day before the election, the error of his ways …. that di-hydrogen oxide (H2O) was water …..!! Now the same people are trying to do the same with the CO2. If you want to lower the percentage CO2 in our air …… quit cutting down the forests. Quit building whole communities on farmland!! The plants absorb and feed on the CO2, and produce oxygen as a by-product. Simple elementary school science.
