NEWS Cities Centre Research Manager Emily Paradis presented a paper, Relations of disenfranchisement: Understanding women’s homelessness through feminist participatory research, at the international conference Rethinking Homelessness: Theoretical and Methodological Challenges / Repenser l’itinérance: défis théoriques et méthodologiques, in Montreal Oct. 27‐29. She and Project Assistant Farida Athumani also attended the national forum, Intervention in Homelessness: Ethical and Clinical Issues Oct. 29‐30. The bilingual conference and forum brought together researchers and front‐line organizations from Québec, across Canada, and from the US, Europe, Africa and Latin America.

The GEOIDE Network of Centres of Excellence is continuing its Strategic Investment Initiative (SII) with targeted initiatives (TSII) of two year duration in conjunction with the Neptis Foundation. This initiative seeks to develop a targeted project that will promote the delivery of geomatics‐driven results across Canada for urban regions. The GEOIDE resources available for each project should not exceed $200,000 per year. The projects will last 24 months (from April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2013).
