Academy Awards History This is the sixth Academy Award nominations for: THE LITTLE PRINCESS (1995); SLEEPY HOLLOW (1999); THE NEW WORLD (2005); THE TREE OF LIFE (2011); CHILDREN OF MEN (2006); GRAVITY (2013) which gived him the OSCAR; BIRDMAN (2014) which gived him the OSCAR.
The winner Emmanuel Lubezki Morgenstern, (Mexico City, 1964), is a Mexican cinematographer. Lubezki began his career in Mexican film and televiion productions in the late 1980s, with the cul series "La Hora Marcada" (1986). Lubezki is a frequent collaborator with fellow Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. The two have been friends since they were teenagers and attended the same film school at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Together they have worked on six motion pictures. His work with Cuarón on "Children of Men" (2006), has received universal acclaim. Lubezki received further acclaim for his work on Cuarón's "Gravity". He won consecutive Academy Awards for Best Cinematography for his work on Alfonso Cuarón's "Gravity" and Alejandro González Iñárritu's "Birdman".
