For years, there has been a big underage drinking problem in our area and I just want to lay out some cons of underage drinking and some pros of stay ing sober. Pro: You have a lot more time to binge watch your favorite Netflix show if you stay at home. Con: You are 10x more likely to do something completely idiotic when you are under the influence. You could jump off a roof or get into a wreck. Dri ving drunk has killed millions of innocent people and you don’t want to be the person that kills another. Pro: You won’t have spent money on alcohol, your breath won’t smell terrible, and you will get a lot more sleep. Con: You could be paying $1000 in f ines and spend a year in jail. Many of you may be thinking of your future but you can kiss it goodbye if you are arrested with alcohol. So you may be thinking: what do I do if I know about underage drinking? You can call Crime Stoppers of Dickinson County toll free at 1-888-5DK-TIPS (1-888-535-8477). You can also submit your tip using the free P3 Tips mobile app or via the web at p3tips.com . If your tip leads to an arrest or helps police put someone on the right track, you could be awarded $1,000 for your help and your name would be completely left out of it all. The truth is: drinking is dangerous and stupid. No matter how “cool” you think you look, you could be one step closer to ruining your future. Stay home, stay sober, and stay on track. This has been Madeline Elliott. 11-12-2018 thru 11-25-2018 Hey everyone, I’m Madeline Elliott and I am the Student Council President at Chapman High School. Today I want to decipher truths and myths behind anonymously texting a crime tip. Many people do not know this but I once made an anonymous crime tip through Crime Stoppers and my identity remained and still is a complete secret. They never asked for my name, never recorded my cell phone number, but I still did my part in letting the authorities know of a crime I knew someone had committed. If you know of a crime that happened to you or your friend, you should do your part in making sure that the same crime doesn’t happen to others. One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that their tip could lead t o a reward if police arrest that person so not only are you helping society and remaining anonymous, but you are also receiving cash or some other reward for what you are doing.
