DIGITAL AGORA: THE FIFTH ARGUMENTOR CONFERENCE

21-22 September 2018 | https://argumentor.wordpress.com/ | Nagyvárad, | https://www.facebook.com/Argumentor-283111228534414/

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS We are entering the age of a digital agora: argumentation, rhetoric, art, politics, and social interactions are reshaped by communication technology. Are we ready for a digital lifestyle? Interactivity enables the shift from paternalistic to participatory social practices, from resource-driven to needs-driven development strategies (Mäkinen 2006: 385). As digital citizenship is increasingly the new educational focus, it is critical to develop both respectful online behavior and to practice online civic engagement (Jones and Mitchell 2016). Are researchers, artists, parents and teachers prepared for the opportunities and challenges of a participatory culture? Are we ready to take a step towards the digital agora? We propose both theoretical and empirical inquiries into the opportunities and challenges of argumentation, rhetoric, art, education, politics, lifestyle, and social interactions emerging from the “digital turn“ (Westera, 2013).
