OPTIONS FOR TRAVELLING TO

Option 1 – flights to and trains to Ostrava Prague has one international airport, the Václav Havel Airport Prague, which offers connections to a large number of destinations in Europe and worldwide.

Trains from Prague to Ostrava (and back) If you want to take the train from Prague to Ostrava, you have to get first from the Václav Havel Airport Prague to Prague main train station (Praha hlavní nádraží – Praha hl.n.) , which can be reached by taxi or by Airport Bus Express. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes and the ticket can be purchased from the bus driver. It is not possible to pay in euros, nor use payment cards. Therefore you will need some Czech currency, with as small a denomination as possible, coin if possible. We highly recommend the application PID Lítačka www.pidlitacka.cz: The mobile PID Lítačka app lets you search for current travel connections according to your location and recommends the corresponding fare for your journey. You don’t need to remember the type of fare you need to pay. Your ticket is then just a few simple taps away on your mobile phone. You can upload your bank card details into the app and simply keep purchasing your tickets whenever you need. You can also pay multiple fares and activate them before boarding public transport.

There are 3 railway companies operating fast trains between Prague and Ostrava. The trip takes about 3 hours (a distance of 351 km) and the tickets can be purchased at the railway station before the trip. One-way ticket prices range between 350–600 Czech crowns (CZK). 1 EUR ~ 25–27 CZK. But it is better to book them in advance through an online system.

If taking a train, please get off the train at the station Ostrava-Svinov.

Option 2 – flights to nearby or Krakow in Poland Katowice and Krakow (in Poland) offer a wide range of flights from European destinations. There are bus connections from these two polish airports to Ostrava. The details can be found at https://www.leoexpress.com/en or https://www.flixbus.com/. Get a ticket to Ostrava-Svinov.

Option 3 – flights to Vienna and trains/buses to Ostrava Vienna has an international airport, which offers connections to a large number of destinations in the world. There is a direct train from Vienna airport to Vienna Main Station.

Trains from Vienna to Ostrava The trip to Ostrava by train takes about 3 hours.

Buses from Vienna to Ostrava It is also possible to use the Leo Express bus (the bus ride takes about 4 hours) or FlixBus.

Option 4 – flights to Ostrava There are some flights to Ostrava available (Leos Janacek Ostrava Airport). Transport from Ostrava airport to the centre of Ostrava: take a train to Ostrava – Svinov train station.

Option 5 – buses to Ostrava FlixBus or Leo Express bus offers connections to big European cities.
