Jelgavain figures2009 Dear citizens and guests of the city! We all truly love only one city - the city, which we feel in our hearts and the city we live together with. In such way every citizen in Jelga- va loves and is proud about our city. We are proud about our history and our traditions, yet every day is a step forward to establishing new ones. However, we take the most pride for our people, who continu- ously manifest their wisdom, talent, passion for work and willingness to devote their mind and soul for the city and country to prosper. The history of the city is rich and splendid, yet we are here to shape the future. No doubt, we would always ask for more, better and faster progress of things. Yet it is more essential to work persistently, assuredly and systematically. We have observed these patterns while developing Jel- gava and it is obvious that our city has evolved during last years.

Andris Rāviņš, Chairman of City Council
