Mark 4:41 7th WHAT IS YOUR PRAYER FOR THIS WEEK Dear God, Amen 8th READ MARK 4:35-41 JESUS CALMS THE STORM Jesus is our Protector While Jesus was sleeping in the boat, what was happening all around him? What did Jesus do to the storm when he woke up? We can go to Jesus anytime we are afraid, no matter What happened to the storm when Jesus told it to what causes the fear because NOTHING is too big for Jesus to handle. stop? Mark 2:10-11 MY FAVOURITE PART OF MARK 2:1-12 15th Choose your favourite part of the true story in Mark 2 and draw what happens GAME TIME! 16th Mat Carry Use a blanket, towel or a mat to carry a soft toy around the room. Be careful not to drop the soft toy. make it more of a challenge by adding a route all must follow. If in a group, you could turn it into a race. Speak about how the friends carried the man to Jesus. Who is your best friend? Are you a friend others can trust? 17th We learn three things about Jesus from this story ... - Jesus is our healer Jesus can heal both physical problems and heart problems. - Jesus forgives our sins We can always go to Jesus and say sorry. - Jesus is our forever friend Jesus is always with us and wants to be best friends. Did you know…In Bible times, people used the roof of the house for more than keeping out the rain. During the summer, families might sleep on the roof to take advantage of the cool night air. They dried grain and fruit on the roof, stored tools there, and even went up on the roof to pray. 18th ZACCHAEUS THE TAX COLLECTOR if you want God to change your life, He can, and will. Zacchaeus knew what he was - a tax collector. He knew what people thought about him. But he wanted Jesus. Come back tomorrow to learn more ... 19th THE STORY OF ZACCHAEUS There are two things you should know about Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus was a little man. And Zacchaeus was a rich man. And nobody liked him very much. Okay, that’s three things. Nobody like Zacchaeus mostly because he got rich taking money from other people and giving it to the Romans. Nobody liked the Romans much either. That was because they came in from another country like a bunch of big bullies. Zacchaeus collected money for the Romans. They called it "collecting taxes." Some of the money he gave to the Romans - but lots of it he kept for himself. And that’s how he got rich. Zacchaeus was a very rich man... and Zacchaeus was a little man... without a lot of friends. 20th FOR THE FULL STORY READ LUKE 19:1-10 Fast Forward: Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. Zacchaeus wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a Sycamore-Fig tree to see Jesus. “Zacchaeus!” Jesus said to him, “Hurry down from there! “I must stay at your house today!” “How does he know my name?!” Zacchaeus thought to himself. “But he does! He knows my name! And he wants to come and stay at MY house!” 21st Jesus is our friend And you know what? Jesus knows you too! Jesus knows you by name, just like he knew Zacchaeus. He wants to come and tell you how much he loves you. He wants to tell you the good news of his home in heaven. He wants to laugh with you and cry with you, and be with you no matter what. Colour Me In 22nd MY PRAYER THIS WEEK DEAR GOD AMEN 23rd Find the verses in the Bible MARK 10:13-16 and Fill in the Blanks Easy-To-Read Version Jesus Welcomes _________ People brought their small children to _____ so that he could lay his hands on them to _____ them. But the followers told the people to stop bringing their _______ to him. Jesus saw what happened. He did not like his followers ______ the children not to come. CRAFT TIME! 24th 5 paper hearts of different sizes (Optional: and colours) Crayons Glue Prep: cut several paper hearts of descending sizes, at least 5 sizes. On the largest heart write or copy around the edges, “Jesus Loves Me.” On the next smaller heart write, “When I’m Happy, When I’m Sad.” On the next smaller heart write, “When I’m Good,” and on the next smaller heart, “When I’m Bad.” On the smallest heart, write “Jesus Loves Me No Matter What.” glue the hearts one on top of the other, largest to smallest, with the smallest heart on top with the words, “Jesus Loves Me No Matter What!” HELP THE CHILDREN GET TO JESUS 25th “Let the little children come to me.

    AGENDA October 1994 Confronting the Fear By Katy Mattingly We are all taught that women have few or no options when it comes to sexual assault. And we are taught contradictory, racist, wrong, and useless information about those options we supposedly do have; lie back and enjoy it, don’t struggle, don’t make him mad, don’t go out alone, don’t go out at all, be afraid of black men, strangers, the man in the bushes, he didn’t mean to, but you were drunk, it’s not a big deal, it didn’t happen, get over it… I have gone over and over my past assault wondering what I missed, why I didn’t run, why I wasn’t somewhere or someone else. If you, like me, are a survivor or rape, incest, or assault and you are alive to read this article today, you did the right thing. Period. I am not here to criticize past action or in- action. I am here to ask what it would take for all of us to really be able to fight back. And for the first time in my life I have found part of the answer. There is a self defense course for women in Ann Arbor and a few other cities around the country called Model Mugging. This class teaches women, regardless of our physical strength, size or experience to fight back against an assailant who wants to rape or kill us, and to beat them unconscious. This class introduced me to both the ability and the will to protect myself physically against assault.

In fact, it began with you. Our students have been leading a social justice movement in the Los Angeles Unified School District over the past decades. Your movement—which is our movement— has focused on highlighting the problem of racial injustice in our schools. The sad and sobering truth is that we are failing to graduate more than four out of every 10 black and brown boys. As a result of our students’ advocacy, LAUSD has led the nation in passing a groundbreaking School Climate Bill of Rights in 2013. Today, we are at a critical inflection point. We have the opportunity to make your bill of rights a vehicle for eradicating racial injustice in our schools. In the spring of 2014, our team of 13 educators from across Los Angeles took on the mighty task of proposing recommendations to implement the School Climate Bill of Rights. We began by examining data on the achievement gap in LAUSD. We had tough conversations about institutional racism, gender divides, poverty and pedagogy.
