Important Information – 2019 Lemont High School Fall Sports Season

Lemont High School’s 2019 fall sports season begins with the start of preseason practices; the dates for the various sports are listed later in this document. All students who meet eligibility standards are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities during their time at Lemont High School.

REQUIRED PAPERWORK: Students who are interested in participating in a fall sport must turn in all of their required paperwork to the Athletics Office no later than Friday August 9. This includes the school’s Participation Consent form; the IHSA Sports Medicine Acknowledgment & Consent form; and the IHSA Pre- Participation Medical Exam (i.e., sports physical) form. All forms may be may be downloaded from the school’s website by clicking on the ‘Athletics Forms’ page, which is available under the “Athletics” tab at www.lhs210.net. Failure to turn in all paperwork will result in the inability to participate.

All student-athletes must have a physical examination and a doctor's approval that they are medically fit to participate in a sport. For sophomores, juniors and seniors, the IHSA Pre-Participation Medical Exam form must be completed and signed by a physician, and signed both by the student and a parent/guardian. Please note: Incoming freshmen are required to have a State of Child Examination Form on file with the school by Friday August 9. This form satisfies the requirement for the sports physical; freshmen should not submit the IHSA form to the school.

SPORTS PHYSICALS: Lemont High School will offer an opportunity for sophomores, juniors and seniors to receive their sports physicals from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday August 8. These physicals are $60 and will be conducted within the athletic area. Students should bring their payment and form (signed both by the student and parent/guardian) with them; checks should be made payable to Lemont High School. Please contact Athletics/Activities Administrative Assistant Deb Finnegan at (630) 243-3207 to reserve a sports physical appointment. Please note: Freshmen cannot take part in this opportunity.

STUDENT INSURANCE: Students must show that they are protected by insurance coverage, either by a plan offered through the school and/or through their parents. ACTIVITY BUS: Beginning Tuesday August 13, there will be an activity bus to take any students needing transportation to off-site practices, including Cog Hill Course, the LHS Sports Complex and the Lemont Park District. Students will board the bus at 2:45 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center Entrance (located on the south side of the school). Students will be dropped off at the previously named locations. Transportation will not be provided after practice.

(over) FALL SPORTS

CROSS COUNTRY – Tim Plotke ([email protected]) is the head boys’ and girls’ cross country coach. Practice for both teams begins Monday August 12 from 3-5 p.m.. Students should meet at the outdoor track. Practice times may be adjusted after the first day.

FOOTBALL – Bret Kooi ([email protected]) is the head football coach. Practice begins in the stadium for all levels on Monday August 12. Practices for all levels will be from 3-6 p.m. daily Monday through Friday, and from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17. All players should wear athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and football spikes, and bring gym shoes in case of rain. Practice times may be adjusted after the first day.

BOYS’ GOLF – Mark Hollatz ([email protected]) is the head boys’ golf coach. Tryouts begin on Monday, August 12, at 3:00 p.m. at Cog Hill Golf Course. Tryouts will run Monday, August 12, through Wednesday, August 14. Participants will play nine holes each day. There will be a cut after the first day. Students must have their own golf clubs and golf balls. Appropriate attire (collared shirts and course appropriate shorts/pants) is required. A practice schedule will be given out after tryouts.

GIRLS’ GOLF – Bill Mondrella ([email protected]) is the head girls’ golf coach. Tryouts begin on Monday, August 12 at 3:00 p.m.. at the driving range at Cog Hill Golf Club. A schedule for the rest of the week will be handed out that day.

BOYS’ SOCCER – Rick Prangen ([email protected]) is the head boys’ soccer coach. Practice begins at the LHS Sports Complex (12900 W. 131st Street, Lemont) from 3-5 p.m. on Monday August 12. All players should have appropriate soccer equipment (shoes and shin guards) and bring plenty of water.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING – Erin Horan ([email protected]) is the head girls’ swimming coach. The first day of practice will be Monday August 12 at 3pm the Lemont Park District’s Core Indoor Pool. Practices for the first week will be from 3– 5 p.m. Beginners are welcome.

GIRLS’ – Chris Hill ([email protected]) is the head girls’ tennis coach. Practice begins on Monday August 12 from 3-5 p.m. Players should meet at the tennis courts on campus.

GIRLS’ – Chris Zogata ([email protected]) is the head girls’ volleyball coach. Tryouts will be daily from Monday August 12 through Wednesday August 14 from 3-5:30 p.m. All athletes are expected to attend all tryout dates and times. A complete fall schedule will be handed out on August 15. Players should bring appropriate volleyball equipment, a t-shirt, shorts, water and running shoes.
