Claret Adapts to Online Learning Miting De Avance, Matagumpay Na Claret adapts to online learning by Lex Michael Johann A. Sala In compliance with the recommendation of CHED and DepEd for private schools who choose to resume educational programs through virtual means, Claret School of Quezon City launched the Claret Operative Distance Education (CODE) on the 10th of August 2020 as a response to the need to resume schools despite the present global pandemic crisis. As part of the implementation, CODE employed the entirety of Microsoft Office through school-wide subscriptions as the primary tool for the online education. The Microsoft Teams application was chosen to serve as the main online platform for all academic activities Stream Microsoft taken from Photo including but not limited to classes, extra-curricular activities, co- curricular activities, and consultations assisted by a portal website wherein each student can access the several programs used for schoolwork online separate from the program. In spite of all this, latency and issues with connections are the main concerns of the students, parents and teachers as it affects the daily activities of the school in addition to the sheer number of students using bandwidth, occasionally resulting to cancellation of classes due to maintenance conducted by the Internet Service Providers, rainy days interfering with connections, among others or more often than not, the simple lag-riddled session. I ¡Qt>. 565 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PRINCIPAL PLAY-BY-PLAY ANNOUNCERS: THEIR OCCUPATION, BACKGROUND, AND PERSONAL LIFE Michael R. Emrick A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate School of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY June 1976 Approved by Doctoral Committee DUm,s¡ir<y »»itti». UNIVERSITY LIBRARY 11 ABSTRACT From the very early days of radio broadcasting, the descriptions of major league baseball games have been among the more popular types of programs. The relationship between the ball clubs and broadcast stations has developed through experimentation, skepticism, and eventual acceptance. The broadcasts have become financially important to the teams as well as the advertisers and stations. The central person responsible for pleasing the fans as well as satisfying the economic goals of the stations, advertisers, and teams—the principal play- by-play announcer—had not been the subject of intensive study. Contentions were made in the available literature about his objectivity, partiality, and the influence exerted on his description of the games by outside parties. To test these contentions, and to learn more about the overall atmosphere in which this focal person worked, a study was conducted of principal play-by-play announcers who broadcasted games on a day-to-day basis, covering one team for a local audience. With the assistance of some of the announcers, a survey was prepared and distributed to both announcers who were employed in the play-by-play capacity during the 1975 season and those who had been involved in the occupation in past seasons.

MSN Entertainment Guide to the 2004 Academy Awards http://entertainment.msn.com/netcal/?netcal=833 Wake Us When It's Over... The highs, lows and snores of the 76th Academy Awards show By Kat Giantis MSN Entertainment Charlize Theron didn't get the same smooch from Adrien Brody that Halle Berry did last year Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Is it over yet? Despite a triumphant night for "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," the 76th annual Academy Awards are sure to go down as one of the most boring ceremonies in recent history. To borrow a line from host Billy Crystal, it was "a weapon of mass sleep induction." It's a shame, too, since this year's Oscars had all the makings of a night to remember, with "Rings" sweeping every category in which it was nominated and tying "Titanic" and "Ben-Hur" with a record 11 statues. Instead, it was a butt-numbing three-and-a-half-hour snoozefest that featured no major upsets, laundry-list acceptance speeches that included nearly every person in New Zealand, tedious presentations, blah fashions and lackluster jokes. And did we mention it was boring? We would have given anything for a moment of unpredictability -- an Uma-Oprah catfight, a Tom and Nicole reunion, even Renee Zellweger tripping over that big-ass bustle on her dress and stumbling down the stairs. Alas, it was not to be. But while the show may have been weapons-grade dull, it still had its share of highs and lows, if you managed to stay awake for 'em.

We were worried about getting the ballots out to the membership and back in time. We were worried about finding time for the nomina tions screenings in the Foreign Language, Short Film and Documentary categories. We were worried about pulling a show together in a shorter period between the nominations announcement and the telecast. About building tune-in interest over a shorter period of weeks. About dozens of other items that we'd become used to doing in a more leisurely time frame. It turned out it was doable. And we did it. Afterwards, we even wondered how we'd ever managed to stretch it out for three more weeks. It turned out also that the shorter schedule is having a material impact on the studios' release pattern. PiCUlfes may not be all bunched up at the end of this year, but spread a little more evenly over the next eight or nine months. That alone, I'd say, may be a result worth the effort. Some of us wanted to try doing it even earlier. I was one of those. But the prevailing wisdom was to get at least another year under our belts. Moving images and home comforts The global media sports cultural complex comprises many different forms, genres, technologies and practices that work together – and sometimes against each other – in remorselessly insinuating sport into almost every conceivable space of the contemporary life world. As I argued in Chapter 2, television has, since the middle of the twentieth century, occupied the prime position among sport media. As television passed from the status of luxury consumer durable to routine domestic technology, sport was made available in the home in a manner that brought vibrant stadium action into that mundane environment’s most sociable space – the aptly named ‘living room’. This was not an uncontroversial development, given fears that televising sport would drain the will to attend the unique stadium event and undermine not only the economics of sport but also, paradoxically, the appeal of a screen text that is highly dependent on the co-present crowd ambience. The fi rst problem was partially settled when the sale of broadcast rights to sports events became more lucrative than the sale of turnstile tickets and the latter by the enduring social appeal of ‘being there’ and the improvement of the in-stadium experience including, ironically, the installation of large television screens.
