INSTRUCTIONS FOR OFFER SUBMISSION AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTS Offers on City-owned vacant land must be submitted to the Office of Corporation Counsel, and must be accompanied by the City’s offer form (see next page) and the following items. INCOME VERIFICATION FOR CASH PURCHASES a. The City’s vacant-land offer form (see the following page). b. Valid government issued identification. c. Two (2) most recent paystubs. d. The prior year’s filed tax return. e. Two (2) consecutive months of certified bank account statements. f. Any other documents you wish to include to show proof of financial ability to cover offer amount. INCOME VERIFICATION FOR NON-CASH PURCHASES a. A pre-qualification letter or commitment letter from a lending institution promising the funds necessary to cover your offer amount. II. IMPORTANT INFORMATION All prospective buyers will be cross-referenced with the City of Schenectady’s Bureau of Code Enforcement and Bureau of Receipts to determine whether or not they are up to date on their taxes and/or have outstanding code violations. In addition, the City of Schenectady will check the purchaser for outstanding liens, judgments, bankruptcies, and other pertinent information. Landmark Site: Borough of Brooklyn Tax Map Block 176, Lot 18. On Jun0 23, 1970, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing on the proposed designation as a Landmark of the 316 State Street House and the proposed designation of the related Landnark Site (Item J,;o. 75). The hearing had been duly advertised in accordance with the provisions of law. Twenty-six witnesses spoke in favor of historic preservation in the Boerum Hill neighborhood and for the creation of the Boerum Hill Historic District. There were no speakers in opposition to designation of the houses on State Street. DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS No. 316 State Street is one of a row of four houses built in 1847-48 for John and Diederick Westfall in the Greek Revival style which was still popular for ro\'1 houses in this area. The Westfalls, who were liquor merchants, acquired the lot for Nos. 310-316 in September 1847, and they commissioned the construction of the row. Both brothers were living in newly built houses on these lots by the next year. These residences were part of the Boerum Hill community which had formed the original Town of Breuckelen founded in 1646 by Dutch colonists. It was incorporated into the larger City of Brooklyn in 1834. The development of Boerum Hill as an urban community began in the 1840s and continued into the 1870s. Many of the houses which remain from this period incorporated Greek Revival and Italianate elements in the row house design.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), founded in 1989 by an act of Congress, is the first national museum dedicated to Native cultures of the Western Hemisphere, which includes North, Central, and South America. The NMAI also has a museum located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and its expansive collection is housed in a state-of-the-art facility, the NMAI Cultural Resources Center, in Suitland, Maryland. The NMAI features exhibitions, public programs, and educational activities that highlight the diversity and strength of the Native peoples of the Americas. The NMAI in New York City is located in the U.S. Custom House. It was designed by architect Cass Gilbert (1859–1934) and built between 1900 and 1907. Thomas Edison State College, a pioneer in providing nontraditional higher education for adults, has established a campus on historic ground surrounding New Jersey’s State House. Dr. George A Pruitt Dear Reader: President, Thomas Edison State College Thomas Edison State College moved to Trenton in 1979 and established its headquarters in the Kelsey Building, built in 1911 and one of the architectural beauties of the State House Historic District. Since that time, the College has been active in conserving the historic buildings of downtown Trenton to preserve the essence of the city's legendary past and stimulate economic development. From the Kelsey Building on West State Street, our campus expanded westward as we restored the five mid-19th-century brick townhouses adjoining the Kelsey Building and leased the early-20th-century Kuser Mansion in the next block. These buildings, all listed on the National Register of Historic Places, are complemented by the modern Academic Center and Canal Banks buildings, both located a block north, on West Hanover Street. The New Jersey State Library, an affiliate of Thomas Edison State College, occupies an historic site at the middle of the State House block.
