YOULDEN CRICKETER’S ALMANAC 2018-19 A STATISTICAL REVIEW OF YOULDEN PARKVILLE C.C. FOR THE SEASON 2018-19 FOREWORD Season 2018-19 saw very few changes to the leadership team from the previous season with all six captains from last season retaining their positions and David Heddle replacing Neil Grey as an assistant coach being the only change to the coaching setup. Whereas last season we had three teams make the finals this season we disappointingly only had the 2nd X1 make the finals. The upside however was that after 3 losing grand finals in the last 4 seaons for the 2nd X1 they went on to play two very tight finals games and prevailed on Ryder Oval to win the first Senior flag in 3 seasons against Indigos. The Powerful Owls program continued to build on their success from the previous year to again feature in the finals. The Club fielded 14 junior teams for the season, up three on last season, including two girls team. Both of these numbers were records for YP. Nine of the eleven teams that played for points played in the finals, with the 14(3) Friday side coming the closest to a flag being defeated grand finalists. Overall there were approximately 160 (down from about 170 last year) juniors involved in the Powerful Owls program, which is a great sign for the future of the Club. A whopping 101 senior players strutted their stuff for YP (down from 123 from last season) and all of them are featured in this almanac. We had 19 players who made their YPCC debuts this season, including another 5 from the junior program (Dillon Barrett, James Dagiandas, Lachlan Kennedy, Thomas Leury and Akshith Sriram), making it 41 in the last six seasons.

  • Youlden Cricketer's Almanac 2016-17
YOULDEN CRICKETER’S ALMANAC 2016-17 A STATISTICAL REVIEW OF YOULDEN PARKVILLE C.C. FOR THE SEASON 2016-17 FOREWORD After the success of 2015-16 where the 4th X1 won the premiership, the 1st and 2nd X1’s were beaten grand finalists and the 3rd X1 made the semi final, expectations for the 2016-17 season were high. Unfortunately the Club could not repeat that level of success with the only two sides making the finals this season. The David Pizzey 5th X1 bowed out in the preliminary final to eventual premiers Burnley CYMS and the Nicholas Demelis led 2nd X1 unfortunately lost their third straight grand final, this year against Parkville Districts. The 3rd and 4th X1’s both played in the grade above where they played last season and the 5th X1 moved into D Saturday, which meant that YPCC was the only club to field a side in all 5 levels of Saturday cricket in the MCA! The Powerful Owls program continued to build on their success from the previous year to again feature in the finals. The Club once again fielded 10 junior teams for the season. All of the teams that played for points played in the finals, unfortunately none of them won a grand final, which is the first time in 5 seasons that the juniors have not won a flag. The breeding ground for the junior teams, the In2Cricket program for 5 to 8 year olds, moved back to Saturday mornings, with a second session being run on Sunday mornings helping to dramatically increase the numbers doing the program.

As President I welcome you to read this report. The 2010/11 season was my third as President of the association. Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the countless numbers of volunteers throughout the clubs who give their own time free of charge to ensure that a game of cricket is made available to every boy and girl who wishes to play the game each season. They are the people who organise registration days, the face you meet at registration days, the people who organise teams, the coaches and managers that take on the task of preparing and organising teams ready for the Saturday morning game. Without your time, the game would not happen. Little is said of your efforts, so I take this opportunity to publicly thank you.

  • Youlden Cricketer's Almanac 2019-20
YOULDEN CRICKETER’S ALMANAC 2019-20 A STATISTICAL REVIEW OF YOULDEN PARKVILLE C.C. FOR THE SEASON 2019-20 FOREWORD Season 2019-20 was a season of significant change for the Club with Ron Rooney stepping down as Senior coach and being replaced by last years assistant David Heddle with Blake Proud as his assistant. After the first round of the season Flemington withdrew from D Sunday which gave the club the opportunity to field a Seventh X1 for the first time in the clubs history with Peter Holt being the captain. The biggest change however was the introduction of Women’s teams to the Senior program for the first time since the 1930’s. Two teams were entered in the NWMCA WT20 competiton with Derek Dewey appointed as the coach. Both teams made the finals with the second team led by Georgina Connelly being defeated in the Division 2 semi final against Melbourne Deaf while the first team led by Maz Stonehouse went all the way winning the Division 1 premiership against Lancefield after starting the season in Division 3! Whereas last season we had only one men’s team make the finals, this season four of the seven teams made the finals. The First, Fourth and Seventh X1’s all bowed out in the semi finals wheras the Third X1 made it to the grand final only to be deafeted by Powerhouse in a game controversially played when every other assocaiation had called their season to a halt due to COVID19. The Powerful Owls program continued to build on their success from the previous year with approximately 160 children strutting their stuff in YP teams or as part of the Blasters program.

I trust and hope you all enjoyed your cricket this past season and may I congratulate everyone in the spirit you played the game and the sportsmanship demonstrated both on and off the field! This season we had a total of 108 teams registered teams from Kangas to U16-18’s, together with the great work done by our six In2Cricket centres – Collaroy Plateau, Cromer, Forest, Harbord, Peninsula and Wakehurst. The work and commitment from these centres is critical for introducing our game to new boys and girls, so as we can retain them and grow our numbers. Congratulations to all the award winners, including premiership winning teams, individual and representative winners. From my visits around the grounds throughout this past season, whether it was In2Cricket, Kangas or right up to U16-18’s, it was evident that cricket as a whole in the Manly Warringah area was in a good place.
