Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR) negeri Melaka telah melaksanakan program “Road Safety Walk 2014” yang bertempat di hadapan Bangunan Memorial Pengisytiharan Kemerdekaan, Bandar Hilir, Melaka pada 8 April yang lalu. Program yang dirasmikan oleh YBhg Dato’ Dr. Tam Weng Wah, Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya Malaysia ini berobjekif untuk memupuk kesedaran tentang keselamatan jalan raya di kalangan para belia.

Seramai 276 peserta dari 6 buah sekolah telah mengambil bahagian di dalam program “Road Safety Walk 2014” ini. Sekolah-sekolah tersebut ialah SK Sacred Heart, SK St. Francis, SK Bandar Hilir, SMK Tinggi, SMK St. Francis dan SMK Jesus Convent. Agensi-agensi kerajaan mahupun swasta turut sama-sama menjayakan program ini antaranya ialah Briged Sukarelawan Khidmat Negara, Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan (AADK), Jabatan Bomba Dan Penyelamat Negeri Melaka, dan juga PLUS Malaysia Berhad.
