Additional Maple Grove Elementary is home to Jeffco’s Auditory/Oral Deaf and Information Hard of Hearing (DHH) center-based program. A center-based program has the advantage of having qualified professionals who provide services to students with hearing loss. Professionals include Teachers of the Deaf, Educational Audiologists, Speech Language Pathologists, and a Mental Health Provider. In addition to these specialized professionals, students may work with an experienced and trained paraeducators to provide them with extra support within the general education classroom.

A benefit of our program is that we are located within a regular elementary school, this design allows students to participate within the general education setting as well as the D/HH classroom.Programming and instruction are individualized to meet each child’s needs. The goal of our program is to provide DHH students with the knowledge necessary to become independent in academics, social skills and self-advocacy.

On a daily basis, general education teachers work collaboratively with D/HH teachers to provide DHH students with specific strategies to enhance their ability to access the curriculum. These accommodations and strategies may include preferential seating, comprehension checks, clarification and rephrasing, pre-teaching and reteaching, and the use of assistive technology such as a personal FM system.

Additional Greeley-Evans Schools offer a continuum of services for students who Information are deaf or hard of hearing.

There are center based sites for K-8 and 9-12. These sites offer individual classrooms as well as mainstreaming, dependent upon the students needs.

There are itinerant services for students not at the center based sites. Consult and direct services are both offered.

We believe in communication. Whatever modality (auditory/oral, sign language, simcom, etc) works for the student is what is taught.
