The stock Ram bred by Neil Marsden (Highberries Flock) was sired by Hundith Z004 out of a Midlock D045 ewe. Shearling rams topped at £4000 twice from the Smearsett flock of WA & A Booth, Feizor, both rams sired by Smearsett G011 out of a Hundith Z4 ewe selling to Messrs Garth of Birk Knott and Messrs Whitaker of Boswber respectively. The same breeders also topped the ram lamb section at £2500 with 3rd prize lamb also sired by Smearsett G11 this time out of a Highberries G43 ewe and selling to Messrs Shuttleworth of Barbon Fell. The 2nd prize lamb shown by Messrs Lord “Hundith Flock” sold to £2200 going home with Ian Gregory of High Peak, Derbyshire. Pre sale judges were Bob Wearmouth and Davis Richardson of Kirkby Stephen. The Auctioneers reported a cautious trade overall. Aged Rams averaged £561.67 up £19.67 on the year. Shearling Rams averaged £449.93 up £21.93 on the year. Ram Lambs averaged £368.75 down £62.25 on the year. Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): Best tups good to sell with those lesser quality sorts harder to place. Top end of the sale regularly £800 + with three over £1000, topping at £1100 from John Kelsall, Summerlands. Also in this trio was Jam Robinson of Kaker Mill Texels with his best Texel Shearling which stood first in the pre-show sale claiming the Jimmy Lawson Memorial Cup. Plenty of commercial tups £550- £780 including the 1st and 2nd place Suffolks in this bracket at £700 and £560 respectively. A run of tremendous x-bred tups from T Craddock, Flass Farm peaked at £850 with his 1st place shearling. Auctioneer’s Report (Greg MacDougall): Another nice show forward with a large audience of both travelled and local buyers in attendance. Strong Continental and Suffolk lambs as well as best bred selling between £60-£66 topping at £68 for some Texels from RE Woodhouse, Scale Farm. Medium term sorts £55-£58 with long keep lambs £44-£52 depending on quality. Mule wether lambs once again having a strong following, good to sell throughout, strongest pens £54 -£58 with JE & DJ Hutchinson topping at £58.20. Other pens in general £50-£55 with a few smaller lambs in the late £40s. Horned lambs finding a limited following although better than other local centres. Swales topped at £38 from JC Wade & Son, Catchall with R Johnson of Winder topping the section with a pen of Lonks at £43.

Mark’s second heifer looking well sold at £2000, whilst J & R Waller, Killington and Mike Robinson, Farleton realised £2050 & £2100 respectively. Graham Bradley, officiated the pre-sale show, awarding J Robinson, the Champion rosette to their 14day calved, 32litre pedigree heifer “Kelletview Fever Anderson”, she later sold at £1780, to Messers Foster, Out Rawcliffe. David Wright showed a milky 2nd calved cow, she snapped up the red rosette and also realised £1780. All heifers forward averaged a solid £1639 whilst cows averaged £1750. Best bred lambs 200p a kilo+ with MB Townley topping at 211.5p. Lambs 45kg-50kg selling £70-£80 with a few specials £90- £98 with MB Townley also topping at £100. Heavier pens of Mule lambs £66-£68 with handy weights around 140p. The Annual Show was held for Prime Masham lambs with Tommy Sayer acting as judge. First prize went to regular vendors A & MA Wright, Stauvins weighing 50kg making £80 with 2nd prize from the same home to £77.50 and 3rd prize from T & D Wright, Alcocks also realising £77.50.Horned lambs topping at 163.1p from France Bros with the trade in general 140p-150p.
