Obstetrics & Gynecology Generalist (with interest in vaginal or basic urogynecology) – Peter Lougheed Centre, ,

The Department of & Gynecology, (AHS) Calgary Zone, the Cummings School of Medicine, is actively recruiting for a generalist (0.5 FTE with tentative plans to transition to 1.0 FTE within 3 years) in the Department. Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta is required. Candidates must have their FRCSC in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and preference will be given to a candidate with Royal College Subspecialty Certification, with special areas of interest in vaginal surgery or basic urogynecology. All candidates will be required to have clinical academic appointments with the Cummings School of Medicine University of Calgary.

Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone serves a population of ~1.2 million people. Calgary is a vibrant city close to Banff and the Rocky Mountains. The Zone includes presently 5 urban , (Foothills Medial Centre, Rockyview , Peter Lougheed Centre, and Alberta Children’s Hospital) comprehensive health centres and a variety of community and continuing care facilities.

Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) is a secondary centre, and the primary site for this recruitment position. The position is at PLC and is a .5FTE.

Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is the tertiary facility in Calgary and provides tertiary support to southern Alberta as well as south eastern British Columbia for obstetrics. There are approximate 5000- 6000 deliveries per annum. The NICU is located at FMC. The is co-located on this site as well. FMC offers full service Gynecology as well as all subspecialty gynecologice services.

AHS Sponsorship for CPSA Practice Readiness Assessment is not offered for this position.

Requirements: FRCSC and subspecialty training with interests in vaginal surgery, and/or basic urogynecology, and administration. The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. The successful candidate must read, write and speak English. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.

Compensation: This position is a Fee for Service position. There may be an opportunity to obtain a position on site with an agreed upon negotiated on-site contract. There is an agreement in place for specialist on call stipend for Gynecology and Obstetrical call service.
