DEAR COLLEAGUE,

I’m pleased to report that as we close the books for 2015, we enjoyed a great fundraising year, and are on track to finish out the election cycle as our best cycle yet! Because of your generous support, we raised over $1.7 Million from over 3,400 contributors.

Whether you’re a solo practitioner, part of a group practice, or a clinician in academics, you know well the enormous power legislators can have on physicians and how we practice. It’s our job as your Orthopaedic PAC to protect all of our orthopaedists, your practice is our priority.

2016 is a critical Presidential election year. We will elect the entire US House of Representatives, one-third of the US Senate, and of course, a new President. The stakes have never been higher. We will work tirelessly to make sure our friends are re-elected, and defeat our adversaries when we must. We are a transparent, membership-driven PAC. We are working for you. If your Member of Congress (MoC) is great and needs help, tell us. If your MoC is terrible and needs to go, tell us. If you don’t know your MoC but want to build a relationship, tell us!

As always, we’ll use every dollar you contribute, every single one, to protect our specialty, protect in-office ancillary services, and fight for medical liability reform and delays for both Meaningful Use and Comprehensive care for Joint Replacement (CJR).

Special thanks to members of the Orthopaedic Executive Committee, named in this report, who work exceptionally hard at raising money and guiding our electoral strategy. We have broad representation and are proud to be the second largest medical community PAC, and in the top ten of all association PACs. We are steadily climbing back to the top of the ranks, where we belong.

I’m proud of the support of our membership, and know we can do even better. Every one of us, and our patients, benefit from our efforts. We all need to be involved and to contribute to our PAC. 2014 PAC PARTICIPATION AWARDS PRESENTED TO PUERTO RICO AND VERMONT The Stuart L. Weinstein, MD PAC Participation Awards were presented on Friday, May 1, 2015 during the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference (NOLC) held in Washington, DC to Puerto Rico and Vermont. The PAC Participation Awards were established in 2013 to honor the states with the highest PAC participation rate as well as the individual state that has demonstrated the greatest improvement in PAC participation from one year to the next. In Puerto Rico, the campaign called “Donate a Procedure” encouraged orthopaedic surgeons to donate the proceeds of one case to the PAC, whether it was a $50.00 contribution for a joint injection or a $1,200 contribution for a total knee replacement, the campaign helped fellows realize they can give something to the cause. In Vermont, engaging their residents who achieved 100 percent PAC participation at the University of Vermont helped bring other fellows in the state on board after the residents set the mark. Vermont saw their PAC participation jump from just 16 percent in 2013 to 58 percent in 2014.
