Additional models will be available in 2019. This feature will allow Toyota and Lexus customers in the United States to interact with Alexa in the car. Alexa can help customers with thousands of things and connects to more than a thousand third-party smart home products for added convenience and ease of use. With Alexa, customers can simply ask for directions, control entertainment, get the news, add items to a shopping list, control their smart home while on the road, and more. “Voice services are rapidly becoming more popular and through our integration with Amazon Alexa, Toyota and Lexus customers will soon be able to easily speak to Alexa in their cars while on-the-go,” said Zack Hicks, senior vice president and chief information officer of Toyota Motor North America and chief executive officer and president of Toyota Connected. “We’re thrilled that Toyota and Lexus will bring Alexa to customers on the road,” said John Scumniotales, head of product for Amazon Alexa Automotive. “Our vision for Alexa is that she should be everywhere a customer might need her – at home, in the office, on phones – and in cars. This integration means that customers can interact with Alexa, virtually anywhere they drive.” Once Alexa is enabled, just ask her to do things like adjust your smart home’s temperature so it’s comfortable when you get there, add milk to your shopping list on your way to the store, or listen to your audiobook from Audible. Bredemann Toyota • 847-655-1446 • http://www.bredemanntoyota.com/index.htm Toyota Named to Fortune Magazine’s 2018 ‘World’s Most Admired’ List Toyota Named to Fortune Magazine’s 2018 ‘World’s Most Admired’ List Toyota is No. 1 in Industry for Fourth Consecutive Year January 19, 2018 PLANO, Texas (Jan. 19, 2018) – Toyota is named again by Fortune as one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” and named the No. 1 motor vehicle company for the fourth consecutive year in an annual ranking . Fortune also recognized Toyota as one of the Top 50 “All-Star” companies surveyed, moving up five spots from last year. Fortune’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” list is widely acknowledged as the definitive report card on corporate reputation and is based on company surveys and industry peer ratings from senior executives, directors and industry analysts. For each company, the survey measures nine attributes considered critical to a company’s global success, including quality of products and services, social and environmental responsibility, global competitiveness, and value as an investment, among others. "Toyota is honored to be listed among the world’s most admired companies once again, and to be recognized as the most admired auto company in the world for the fourth year in a row,” said Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). “This ranking acknowledges the many successes of our global team who are committed to advancing sustainable, next-generation mobility for our customers.” The full list appears in the magazine’s February issue (available on newsstands January 22) and can be viewed online now on Fortune’s: http://fortune.com/worlds-most-admired-companies. METHODOLOGY Fortune collaborated with Korn Ferry on this survey of corporate reputation. They began with a universe of about 1,500 candidates: the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue, along with non-U.S. companies in Fortune's Global 500 database that have revenues of $10 billion or more. They then winnowed the assortment to the highest-revenue companies in each industry, a total of 680 in 29 countries. The top-rated companies were picked from that pool of 680; the executives who voted work at the companies in that group. To determine the best-regarded companies in 52 industries, Korn Ferry asked executives, directors, and analysts to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent. A company’s score must rank in the top half of its industry survey to be listed. To select the 50 All-Stars, Korn Ferry asked 3,900 executives, directors, and securities analysts who had responded to the industry surveys to identify the 10 companies they admired most. They chose from a list made up of the companies that ranked in the top 25% in last year’s surveys, plus those that finished in the top 20% of their industry. Anyone could vote for any company in any industry. The difference in the voting rolls explains why some results can seem at odds with each other. For example, Deere fell off the All-Star list but moved up one notch within the construction and farm machinery category when votes from only those in that industry were counted. About Toyota Toyota (NYSE:TM) has been a part of the cultural fabric in the U.S. and North America for 60 years, and is committed to advancing sustainable, next-generation mobility through our Toyota and Lexus brands. During that time, Toyota has created a tremendous value chain as our teams have contributed to world-class design, engineering, and assembly of more than 33 million cars and trucks in North America, where we operate 14 manufacturing plants (10 in the U.S.) and directly employ more than 46,000 people (more than 36,000 in the U.S.). Our 1,800 North American dealerships (nearly 1,500 in the U.S.) sold more than 2.6 million cars and trucks (2.4 million in the U.S.) in 2017 – and about 85 percent of all Toyota vehicles sold over the past 15 years are still on the road today. Toyota partners with community, civic, academic, and governmental organizations to address our society’s most pressing mobility challenges. We share company resources and extensive know-how to support non-profits to help expand their ability to assist more people move more places. The involved vehicles are equipped with a particular type of Takata inflator. According to Takata, a safety defect may arise in the front passenger air bag inflators in the involved vehicles due to inflator propellant degradation occurring after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling. This may result in an inflator rupture when the air bag deploys. This expansion, based on the latest information from Takata, involves approximately 601,300 additional vehicles in the U.S. The following models are included: 2009 – 2010 and 2013 Model Year Scion xB 2009 - 2010 and 2013 Model Year Toyota Corolla 2009 – 2010 and 2013 Model Year Toyota Corolla Matrix 2009 – 2010 Model Year Toyota Yaris 2010 and 2013 Model Year Toyota 4Runner 2013 Model Year Toyota Sienna All known owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail by early March.

Monthly Driver Checks Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority 620 Cherry Street Des Moines, Iowa 50309-4530 515-288-RIDE(7433) [email protected] 1 2 How to Check Engine Oil Level Oil reduces the friction in your engine and keeps it running smoothly. You should check your vehicle’s oil at least once a month to make sure that there is enough oil and that it is not contaminated. 3 1. Make sure your vehicle is on a level surface, put it in park and shut off the engine. 2. Pull the interior hood latch. Although the location of the hood release may differ from one vehicle to the next, all releases work in pretty much the same way. See if your car has a latch near the left side of the driver’s seat, under the steering wheel. It may have a picture or marking indicating it is the hood latch. If unable to locate the hood latch, consult your owner’s manual. Press, push, or pull the latch until you hear the hood pop open. This will partially release the hood. A safety catch prevents the hood from opening accidentally while you are driving. 2 3. Locate the latch under the front of the hood. The hood should now be partially open. With one hand, raise the hood as far as it will go. With the other hand, feel along the area between the hood and the grill for the safety catch. It will generally be at the center or just to one side. Pull up on the latch with one hand, while simultaneously lifting the hood with the other hand.

IHS Knowledge Nugget – November Issue Consumer Survey – Apps in the Car Colin Bird Radio is the original “infotainment” platform. Radio, more specifically music, is the leading entertainment application in the car. As display audio systems with multiple wireless and wired connection protocols for brought-in devices become more popular in the car, a proliferation of native apps and smartphone integration solutions are allowing new avenues for content. In the United States one content producer has capitalized on this disruption better than the rest: Pandora. Pandora Media Inc. has grown tremendously since launching in 2000 and today accounts for 9.3% of all the radio listening hours in the US, surpassing satellite radio’s 7.9% share, as of July 2015, according to Triton Digital, Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), and the US Census Bureau. For perspective, 91.2% of persons 18 years and older listen to the radio, and of those 60% of that is in the car, according to RAB. According to the IHS consumer behavior study published in March of 2015, Internet streaming radio was the fourth most often selected option by US consumers for listening to music in the car. The windshield wipers will park automatically irrespective of their position, when the ignition or the wipers and washers control switch is selected off. Wiper functions are suspended during engine cranking to reduce battery power consumption under high load conditions. A timed washer jet function eliminates the trail of washer fluid left on the windshield after a wiping action and reduces fluid consumption by only operating the washer jets on the up stoke of the wiper arms. This function can be configured using Jaguar approved diagnostic equipment. The windshield wiper have 4 operational states: Flick wipe Auto mode Normal (slow) speed continuous Fast speed continuous. The auto, normal and fast speeds are affected by road speed. The auto mode delay periods change with the road speed, with the delay decreasing as the road speed increases.
