Our summer program is designed to enrich the learning of our students, even when school is not in session. The mission of the Rose Tree Media School District’s Summer Programs is to provide opportunities for continued academic and social growth. Through fun learning experiences delivered by a dedicated, certified teaching staff, the students will discover their talents, foster a love of learning, gain academic confidence, and create new friendships. Our camps require no prior experience…. just interest and willingness to learn something new!

The Rose Tree Media School District Summer P r o g r a m o f f e r s s t u d e n t s e n g a g i n g a n d stimulating experiences that are geared toward fostering and promoting life-long learning. Students are empowered to use their creativity in a fun and safe environment. Our programs are unique and include grade-specific activities targeting desired physical and academic skills, as well as promote higher order thinking. The enthusiastic instructors of our programs are members of the Rose Tree Media School District family and are eager to share their knowledge and passion. During each session, students are encouraged to strive for excellence while developing new friendships in a collaborative setting. Animation I & II Week K - 3 In iPad Animation, your child will have the opportunity to learn a 1: variety of types of animation using the iPad. In addition to mastering July the fundamentals of iPad use, students will receive instruction and 6-10 create digital projects using Stop-motion, Time-lapse, Claymation and Lego-motion animation formats. Come join the fun and find out Week 2: 4 - 6 what happens when your student’s creativity meets Apple July technology. 13-17

TIME: 8:30-11:30 a.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Artists in the Making Week K - 2 This camp emphasizes fun exploration of various media in the world 1: of art. Students can expect to experience a combination of drawing, July painting, using papier-mâché, tie-dying, printing, stenciling, sewing, 6-10 clay work, and much more! No prior experience is necessary. Taught by one of our own RTM art instructors!

TIME: 8:30-11:30 a.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Baking: Beginning and Advanced Week 1 4-6 Students will learn basic baking terms, measuring techniques, and (B) proper use of the oven. Recipes in the Beginner class (grades 4-6) July will include items such pumpkin bread in a jar, ice cream cone 6-10 cupcakes, granola, and more. Recipes in the Advanced class 7-8 (grades 7- 8) will include pies, angel food cake, cream puffs, basic Week 2 cake decorating, and more. Taught by one of our own RTM (A) Consumer Science teachers! Space is limited. Recipes may be July altered at teacher discretion. 13-17

TIME: 8:30-11:30 a.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week & Softball: Techniques & Tournament Week 4 4-8 July Learn to hit, catch, and throw with the best of them! A certified 27-31 physical education teacher will teach campers the basics of baseball & softball. The week will culminate in a tournament to allow campers to demonstrate their newly learned skills!

TIME: 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Week 4 E Best of Intermurals (Elementary & Intermediate) July 2-4 Join your friends, or make new friends while playing crowd favorites 27-31 such as kickball, , floor hockey, soccer, and other exciting I team games. Campers will learn sportsmanship, following rules, and 5-8 basic fitness in a fun atmosphere. **To ensure fun & safety for all, please be sure to register for the correct age group**

TIME: 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Ceramics Week 3 6-12 Spend a week creating with clay! Students do not need any July 20-24 prior experience. We will start with the basics of hand building, followed by the types of surface decoration, and finishing with traditional and innovative glazing. Come create a one of a kind items!. Taught by Springton’s own Ceramics instructor! Space is limited. *It may be necessary for the student or parent to return the following week to pick up items that need to finish processing.

TIME: 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Color Wars Week 2 2-6 Students will have the opportunity to participate in a camp July 13-17 favorite including opportunities to work in a team, complete a volunteer project, tie-dye shirts, and compete in group games.

Drawing & Painting I & II Week 2: 3-5 Does your child love to draw or paint? In this camp, your child July 13-17 will learn the basics of drawing and painting by focusing on lines, texture, shading and color choice to create still life drawings, Week 4: 6-8 perspective drawing, and more. Taught by one of our own RTM July 27-31 art instructors!

Fitness Fanatics Week 2 4-8 Students will have the opportunity to increase their knowledge to July 13-17 assist them in living a healthy life style. Students will learn about nutrition, stretching, running, weightlifting, and time management Week 3 4-8 to life a balanced life. This camp is taught by a certified PE July 20-24 teacher! Fitness, Sports, & Group Games Week 1 5-8 July. 6-July 10 Wouldn't it be great if kids could learn the value of exercise and living a healthy lifestyle while they're still young? Participants will Week 3 learn stretching, running, body-weight exercises, and other July 20-24 2-5 exercise techniques, with the primary goal of teaching young athletes how to properly exercise and develop their speed, strength, flexibility, and quickness. Students will have the opportunity to apply learned skills during group game opportunities such as kickball, frisbee, and other fan favorites.

Certified physical education teacher will teach campers the basics of golf including stances, swings, & July 6-10 scoring. The week will culminate in a tournament to allow campers to demonstrate their newly learned skills!

TIME: 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Jump Start to Kindergarten Weeks 1 Meet new friends and get ready for your first year of school! Our through 4: K kinder camp is facilitated by certified RTM teachers who have an understanding of our youngest campers developmentally, socially, July 6-31 and academically. Campers will enjoy free play, structured social interactions, school readiness skills, and academic skills related to literacy and numeracy. The camp is offered five days per week Students may for three hours per day 8:30-11:30. TIME: 8:30-11:30 LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Sports Extravaganza (PM Session) Week 1 4-8 July 6-10 This camp can be taken as a stand alone session or added to a morning camp for a full day experience. Students will have the opportunity to interact wth their peers in a fun and athletic atmosphere.

TIME: 12-3:30 LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week STEM Camp Week 1: July 3-6 Do you have a strong interest in science, math, engineering, & 6-10 technology? This camp taught by a certified science and physics teacher will allow campers to explore these areas and participate in engaging & exciting experiments. Study Smarts (Middle School) Week 2 5-8 Students will have the opportunity to learn study and executive July 13-17 functioning skills to assist them in meeting success this school year. This camp is taught by a SLMS 8th grade Language Arts teacher.

Summer Numbers 1-5 Would your child benefit from math practice in the summer? In Weeks Summer Numbers, students will develop math fact fluency and 1-4: problem-solving skills. Summer Strings Week 4 6-12 The Summer Strings program is designed to help middle and high July 27-31 school students develop technique and grow in their overall musicianship. Students will be introduced to technical exercises such as scales, arpeggios, and etudes. Repertoire ranging from standard classical pieces to movie scores/popular music will be available for students to play. ALL students, ranging from beginners to experienced players are welcome to enroll. Taught by Penncrest's own Orchestra director!

Ta Da Summer Reading Camp Week 1 6 Join a book club run by the Springton Lake Middle School’s July 6-July 10 Language Arts Department Chair. You will meet with your grade level peers to read and discuss the mandatory summer reading Week 3 novel. You will have the opportunity to begin the Ta Da reading July 20-24 7-8 organizer.

TIME: 8:30-11:30 LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Tennis Week 2: 4-8 Game, Set, Match! Students interested in learning or refining the July 13-17 fundamentals of successful tennis are invited to join this fun camp experience! Each day of camp is designed to teach and/or sharpen skills while participating in creative games and activities. Week 3: 4-8 Basic tennis strokes, rules of play, match etiquette, and match play July 20-24 will be emphasized. Must bring your own tennis racquet. Space is limited. This camp is instructed by certified PE teachers!

TIME: 8:30-11:30 LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week Variety Club K-8 Interested in a FULL-DAY experience? TIME: 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week or $450/four weeks Writer’s Workshop: Creative Writing Seminar Week 4 6-12 Do you love short stories? Do you want to publish your work? In this camp, you July 27-31 will learn the basics of writing and publishing and engage in the writing process. Campers will publish their work and each camper will receive a publication with published works from all campers. This camp is taught by SLMS Language Arts Coordinator and teacher.

Summer Theater Week 1-4 4-12 Rose Tree Media is excited about the talent of our students! To July 6-31 provide an opportunity for students to improve and showcase these talents, the district is holding a four-week full day Musical Theater Camp. This camp is open to students entering grades 4 through 12 and will culminate with two performances of the chosen musical. Through theatre workshops and coaching from experienced directors, musical directors, choreographers, costumers, and technical directors, children will be given the opportunity to explore stage craft like never before. Your child's day will be full of acting, vocal, and dance/movement rehearsals and workshops, theater games, and insight into how a musical is produced. This will be a unique experience, so "act" now and register! This program will be run by RTMSD Musical Directors. **Production to be announced mid-March** TIME: Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m.- noon LOCATION: Springton Lake Middle School COST: $160/week or $500/four weeks HIGH SCHOOL COURSES FOR ORIGINAL CREDIT

Penncrest High School will be offering Health and Physical Education classes for original credit through our summer program. The dates and times are as follows: July 13 - July 30th Cost: $250/course Physical Education (8:00 AM – 11:15 AM) @Springton Lake Middle School Physical Education & Health (11:45-3:00PM) @Springton Lake Middle School Students entering grade 10 are eligible to take Health and/or Physical Education for original credit over the summer. Students must attend all 14 days for credit. Students are expected to wear a PHS PE uniform or similar attire.

Students must register and pay in full for session I OR session II by March 27th. Penncrest High School Students must also indicate Summer School Physical Education Course #1531 and/or Summer School Health Course #1533 during the course selection window. Health and Physical Education classes will only be offered if a minimum number of students register.

Students must attend all classes and complete assignments outside of the session hours.

Refunds are not provided if a student fails to finish a course

MIDDLE SCHOOL REMEDIATION COURSES:

Students who do not pass mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts are required to enroll in a remedial summer program in order to meet the minimum promotion requirements. Students may enroll in a maximum of two courses. Courses will meet face-to-face five times during the month of July. Each session will be two hours in length. Students will be required to complete assignments outside of class in between each session. These required assignments will constitute a minimum of fifteen hours. In total, each course will require a minimum of 25 hours.

Exact dates for each course will not be determined until the last day of school. Once final grades are submitted, we will create a schedule that allows students to access any needed combination of courses in order to meet promotion requirements. A letter will be mailed to parents at that time.
