Pathologist with Hematopathology Expertise Laboratory Medicine and Genetics Program

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is the largest community based academic health network in serving over one million residents in the communities of , Peel Region, and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital (CVH), (MH), and Queensway Health Centre (QHC) – offering a full range of acute care hospital services, as well as a variety of community-based specialized programs.

We are seeking one (1) full-time Pathologist with Hematopathology Expertise to be a member of our Laboratory Medicine and Genetics Program, providing clinical services to all three sites of the Hospital. The preferred candidate will be trained in Hematopathology, Anatomical or General Pathology and have special competencies in neoplastic Hematopathology, and will have appropriate credentials. The start date for this position is November 2017.

The successful candidate will be part of a group of 19 Pathologists, one Medical Microbiologist, one PhD Clinical Chemist and three PhD cytogenomicists who provide Pathology and Laboratory Medicine services to ten large clinical programs. The Program of Laboratory Medicine and Genetics has a strong immunohistochemistry laboratory, state of the art flow cytometry facility, and houses the regional Molecular Genetics Program which includes next generation sequencing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for hematopathology duties including lymphoma pathology, blood film and bone marrow interpretation and flow cytometry. As a staff Pathologist, the successful candidate will be expected to fully participate in the quality management program, multidisciplinary cancer conferences and teaching.

The organization is an affiliated academic teaching centre with the University of Toronto. The preferred candidate would be expected to participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners, and also have the opportunity to participate in clinical and applied research. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to an inter-professional care model are also essential.

This position represents an opportunity to join a group of dedicated healthcare professionals in a progressive organization. Interested physicians must be certified in Hematopathology, Anatomical or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have appropriate hematopathology competencies and be licensed to practice medicine independently in the province of Ontario. He/she will have evidence of an academic interest and expertise and be eligible for a faculty position at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine. Graduate training, research productivity and a focus in medical education and educational scholarship are particular priorities. The position is open to all qualified candidates; however, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
