UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA 1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the study
Literature is a written works in pouring every expression and idea which have artistic value. Klarer says that literature is referred to as the entirety of written expression, with the restriction that not every written document can be categorized as literature in the more exact sense of word.
Literary works consists some art of writing such as poems, novels, prose and dramas. Every writer have their own words to deliver their means in that literary works. According to Robert and Jacobs (2004:1) literature in board of sense is to mean composition that tell stories, dramatize situations, express emotions, analyze and advocate ideas.
Song is related to poetry. Poetry is part of literary works which use beautiful words to express the idea. Poetry and song equally convey their emotions word by word. Wordsworth defined poetry as the “The spontaneous overflow of powerful feeling: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility”. William Wordswoth also stated that poetry is the spontaneous overflow the powerful feelings; it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility; the emotion is contemplated till, by a species of reaction, the tranquility gradually disappears, and an emotion, kindred to that which was the subject of contemplation, is gradually produced, and does itself actually exist in the mind.
1 1 1
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA Claire stated that many new words have been emerged and formed by
teenagers. Moreover, when we are listening a song or music just pay
attention to the lyrics. According to the Grolier, “Song is a short musical
work set a poetic text with equal importance given to music and to the
words”. It consist of imagery words in every lyrics. Imagery is the way
you imagine what you can see, hear, feel smell, or taste of making arts and
especially for making a poetry or song.
Paramore is an American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro. Williams and Farro are founding members of the group, while York, a high school friend of the original lineup, joined in 2007. Williams is the only member to appear on all five of Paramore's studio albums and has been the only constant member of the band. The group released its debut album All We Know Is
Falling in 2005, with the album reaching number four on the UK Rock
Chart in 2009 and number thirty on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart in 2006. n 2002, at age 13, vocalist Hayley Williams moved from her hometown
Meridian, Mississippi to Franklin, Tennessee, where she met brothers Josh
Farro and Zac Farro at a weekly supplemental program for home-schooled students. Shortly after arriving, she began taking vocal lessons with Brett
Manning. Prior to forming Paramore, Williams and bassist Jeremy Davis,
2
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA along with friend Kimee Read, took part in a funk cover band called The
Factory, while Josh and Zac Farro had practiced together after school. The other members of what was soon to be Paramore had been "edgy about the whole female thing" of having Williams as vocalist, but, because they were good friends, she started writing for them. Williams said of the members when she first met them, "They were the first people I met who were as passionate about music as I was."The band was officially formed by Josh
Farro (lead guitar/backing vocals), Zac Farro (drums), Davis (bass guitar) and Williams (lead vocals) in 2004, with the later addition of Williams' neighbor Jason Bynum (rhythm guitar). When Davis showed up, he was stunned to find out the drummer was only twelve years old. He admitted "I had very, very, very, little faith in everyone in the band because of their age. I remember thinking, 'This is not going to work because this kid is way too young,' but that first day of practice was amazing. I knew we were on to something. According to Williams, the name "Paramore" came from the maiden name of the mother of one of their first bass players. Once the group learned the meaning of the homophone "paramour" ("secret lover"), they decided to adopt the name, using the Paramore spelling.
This study focused on imagery which contained in several songs of All
We Know Is Falling‟s Album by Paramore. All We Know Is Falling is the debut studio album by American rock band Paramore, released on July 26,
3
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA 2005 under the Atlantic-distributed Fueled by Ramen in the United States.
The production was led by James Paul Wisner, Mike Green, Nick
Trevisick, and Roger Alan Nichols. All songs were written by vocalist
Hayley Williams and guitarist Josh Farro. The departure of bassist Jeremy
Davis, which occurred a few days after arriving in Orlando, served as the album's main theme. This theme was reflected especially in the album's cover and title. Mostly categorized as a pop punk album, the album received mostly positive reviews and has been labeled a "scene classic".
This album composed 10 songs there are: All We Know, Pressure,
Emergency, Brighter, Here We Go Again, Never Let This Go, Whoa,
Conspiracy, Franklin, and My Heart. The writer choose 6 songs of this album. Paramore is the most favorite rock band and the time. Therefore, the writer interested to choose this topic.

UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA 2. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF IMAGERY
2.1 Definition of Imagery
Imagery is language used by poets, novelist and other writers to create
images in the mind of the reader. Imagery includes figurative and
metaphorical language to improve the reader‟s experience through their
senses. It details to the five senses; taste, touch, smell, hearing and sight.
According to Steven Croft and Hellen Cross (2000:56) is a language use in
such a way as to help us to see, hear, feel, thing, about or generally understand
more clearly or vividly what is being said or the impression that the writer
wishes to convey.
Siswanto (2002:49) says that imagery can be meant as a mental
picture, a picture, portrait of picture illusion created as a result of a reader‟s
reaction in understanding the poem. Imagery emerges as a process to continue
imagism developing an active reader to find explicit meanings in the text. To
find the imagery, the readers must have good readings supported by the
mastery of vocabulary, grammar, and cultural aspects. The readers have to be
aware that the text is not our language, so we must adjust with enthusiasm the
other text. Because, of that the readers will be able to understand imagery by
having a good participant with cognitive and emotional. Therefore, visual
imagery is the kind of imagery that occurs most frequently in poetry. And
image also represents a sound (auditory imagery); a smell (olfactory
6 6
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA imagery); a taste (gustatory imagery); touch, such as hardness, softness,
wetness, or heat and cold (tactile imagery); an internal sensation, such as
hunger, thirst, fatigue, or nausea (organic imagery); or movement or tension
in the muscles or joints (kinesthetic imagery).
2.2 Kinds of Imagery
1. Visual Imagery
Ahmad Badrun (2000:54) explain that visual imagery is an imagery
which relates to the visual imagination it is a kind of imagery that appears
mostly in the poem because almost words represented in the poem are
basically seeable. Sometimes, the seen in the mind eye which called by sight
effect. Without visual imagery, a poem may hard to produce. For example :
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay
Then thousand saw I at glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance
7
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA In our imagination appear the difficult stretches along line like the star
that shine on the Milky Way. The daffodils stretched in never ending line
along the margin of the bay.
2. Auditory Imagery
Auditory imagery is an imagery which relates to the auditory. This
image represents sounds like words “buzzing, tinkling, chinning” and others
related to the sound. This imagery is developed by the poet to make an
auditory imaginative in poem. The auditory imaginary that evokes in poem is
not like auditory perception. It means, when the reader reads it, he only fell
the sense of hearing but not really hearing in purpose. For example:
Hear the sledges with the bells –
With silver bell!
What a world of merriment their melody foretells!
How they are tinkle, tinkle, tinkle,
The speaker invite us to hear the bells. The silver bells not iron or the
copper bells, it makes the bell more melodious, then the start follow the bell
jingle. The reader can feel strong sense of hearing in this poem.
8
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA 3. Tactile Imagery
Tactile imagery is an imagery which relates to tactile sense such as
cold and warm. This imagery has relationship with the temperature like heat
and cold or our touch sense. For example :
A dungeon horrible, on all side round,
As one great furnace flamed
These two simple lines bring the reader to fell the heat of hell, which
is describe like as dungeon. We will fell stuffy and tight, then all wall around
the dungeon feel like a great furnace flamed.
4. Olfactory Imagery
Olfactory imagery is an imagery which relates to olfactory or smelling
sense like „fragrant, unpleasant smell and the others related to the aroma. For
example in Robert Frost poem “Out Out”:
The buzz saw snarled and rattled in the yard
And made dust and dropped stove-length sticks of wood.
Sweet-scented stuff when the breeze drew across it.
In the first line, the speaker invite the reader to hear the buzz-saw
snarled which is rattled in the yard. Then, in the second line, the readers will
see the dust and dropped stove-length sticks of wood. Finally, in line three
this made a sweet-scented when the wind blew across it. Olfactory imagery
9
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA appears in the third line, and the first and the second line which were contain
as a way to bring the reader to feel smell sense in this poetry.
5. Gustatory Imagery
Gustatory imagery is an imagery which relates to the taste such as
sweet and briny and others related to the flavor. For example : She is as sweet
as red apple, the word “Apple” represent sweet taste to our imagination.
6. Organic Imagery
Organic imagery is an imagery which relates to internal sensation of
human body such hunger, thirst, pain, etc. For example :
“O where have ye been, Lord randal, my son?
“O where have ye been, my handsome young man?”
“I here been to the wild wood; mother, make my bed soon,
For I’m weary will hunting, and fain wald lie down”.
“Where get ye your dinner, Lord randal, my son?
Where gat your dinner, my handsome young man?”
“I dined will my true-love; mother make my bed soon,
For I’m weary will hunting, and fain wald lie down”.
10
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA We can feel how weary Lord Randal is and how he wants to lie down!
We can feel it through the question asked by his mother to him such as in line
“..O where have ye been, Lord randal, my son…” but the Lord Randal just
say “..I dined with true love;, mother, make my bed soon, For I‟m weary will
hunting, and fain wald lie down”. This line describe how tired Lord Randal
is! This imagery that is built by speaker calls our imagination up to feel as
same as the speaker.
7. Kinesthetic Imagery
Kinesthetic imagery conveys a sense of movement or tension in the
muscles or joints. In the ghost house could be studied how the poet describes
the kinesthetic imagery. The statement …the black bats tumble and dart…
impress us about it sense of movement or tension in the muscle or joints.
11
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA 3. ANALYSIS

Pressure, Here We Go Again, Never Let This Go, My Heart, All We Know, and
Brighter.
3.1 Pressure
“Tell me where our time went
And if it was time well spent
Just don't let me fall asleep
Feeling empty again
Cause I fear I might break (organic)
and I fear I can't take it
Tonight I'll lie awake feeling empty
I can feel the pressure
It's getting closer now
We're better off without you
I can feel the pressure
It's getting closer now
We're better off without you
12 12
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA Now that I'm losing hope
And there's nothing else to show
For all of the days that we spent
Carried away from home (visual)
Some things I'll never know
And I had to let them go
I'm sitting all alone feeling empty
I can feel the pressure
It's getting closer now
We're better off without you
I can feel the pressure
It's getting closer now
We're better off without you
Without you
Some things I'll never know
And I had to let them go
Some things I'll never know
And I had to let them go
13
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA I'm sitting all alone feeling empty
I can feel the pressure
It's getting closer now
We're better off without you
Feel the pressure
It's getting closer now
You're better off without me
“Pressure” is the second song and first single of Paramore‟s
debut studio album All We Know Is Falling. Directed by Shane Drake,

(1) Just don't let me fall asleep
(2) Feeling empty again
3.2 Here We Go Again
And Here we go again
With all the things we said
And not a minute spent
14
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA To think that we'd regret
So we just take it back
These words and hold our breath
Forget the things we swore we meant
I'll write you just to let you know
That I'm alright
Can't say I'm sad to see you go
Cause I'm not (No I'm not)
Well I'm not
And here we go again
With all the things we did
And now I'm wondering
Just who would I have been
To be the one attached at all time to your hip
Forget the things we swore we meant
I'll write you just to let you know
That I'm alright
Can't say I'm sad to see you go
Cause I'm not (No I'm not)
15
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA Well I'm not
I'll write you to let you know
That I'm alright
Can't say I'm sad to see you go
Cause I'm not (No I'm not)
Well I'm not
Here we go again
With all the things we said
And not a minute spent
To think that we'd regret
So we just take it back
“Here We Go Again” is the fifth song of Paramore‟s debut album All We Know Is Falling. The song talks about a broken relationship (possibly the one with bassist Jeremy Davis or with
Hayley‟s parents who were getting divorced) and how sometimes one just falls back again to the same people. The song probably is about the things they might have said in a fight, thinking they wouldn‟t regret what they said, but then they do so they take it back. This song contains :

(1) These words and hold our breath
16
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA 3.2.2 Visual imagery
(1) Can’t say I’m sad to see you go
3.3 Never Let This Go
Maybe if my heart stops beating
It won't hurt this much
And never will I have to answer
Again to anyone
Please don't get me wrong
Because I'll never let this go
But I can't find the words to tell you
I don't want to be alone
But now I feel like I don't know you
One day you'll get sick of
Saying that everything's alright
And by then I'm sure I'll be pretending
Just like I am tonight
Let this go
17
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA Let this go
A song where Hayley narrates what‟s like to be in a one-sided
relationship. It tells how Hayley is still attached to someone but this
person has changed from the one she used to love. At a 2008 show in
Anaheim, Hayley said, “This song is about love gone wrong”; Hayley
is unable to foresee a future without this person and she‟s unable to let
go of the image she still has of him. This song contains :
3.3.1 Organic imagery
(1) One day you’ll get sick of saying
3.4 My Heart
I am finding out that maybe I was wrong
That I've fallen down and I can't do this alone
Stay with me
This is what I need, please
Sing us a song
And we'll sing it back to you
We could sing our own
But what would it be without you
18
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA
I am nothing now
And its been so long
Since I've heard a sound
The sound of my only hope
This time I will be listening
Sing us a song
And we'll sing it back to you
We could sing our own
But what would it be without you
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you, oh
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart is yours
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart is yours (my heart beats for you)
19
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart is yours
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart, my heart is yours
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
In the last track of Paramore‟s debut album All We Know is
Falling, Hayley stresses how important God is to her, and how she belongs to Him.
The song opens on Hayley realizing how much she depends on
God. The first verse suggests that perhaps she had moved away from him a bit, but that hindsight shows her that it was a mistake to do so.
The song continues with Hayley calling out to Him, asking Him to return to her. She rededicates her life to Him in a sense – reminding herself that she belongs to Him and that she lives for Him. That from
20
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA now on she will live for God and that she will listen to Him because
she needs Him. This song contains :
3.4.1 Auditory imagery
(1) Will you sing us a song
(2) Since i’ve heard a sound
(3) The sound of my only hope
3.4.2 Organic imagery
(1) This heart, it beats
3.5 All We Know
We've tried so hard to understand
But we can't
We held the world out in our hands
And you ran away
It takes some time to let you go
And it shows
'Cause all we know is falling, it falls
And remember, 'cause I know that we won't forget at all
Now we could follow you back home
But we won't
Is this what you had waited for
21
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA Just to be alone?
It takes some time to let you go
And it shows
'Cause all we know is falling, it falls
And remember, 'cause I know that we won't forget at all
You never
You never said
This wasn't what you wanted
Was it?
Was it?
This isn't what you wanted
This isn't what you wanted
'Cause all we know is falling, it falls
And remember, 'cause I know that we won't forget at all
The song was written after Jeremy Davis (bass player) left the band in 2005 (he returned after a few months). In this song Hayley also refers to her parents' divorce. This song contains :
3.5.1 Organic Imagery
(1) We held the world out in our hands
3.5.2 Kinesthetic Imagery
(1) 'Cause all we know is falling, it falls
22
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA 3.6 Brighter
So this is how it goes
Well I, I would have never known
And if it ends today
Well I'll still say that you shine brighter
Than anyone
Now I think we're taking this too far
Don't you know that it's not this hard
Well it's not this hard
But if you take what's yours and I take mine
Must we go there
Please not this time, no not this time
Well this is not your fault
But if I'm without you
Then I will feel so small
And if you have to go
Always know that you shine brighter
Than anyone does
Now I think we're taking this too far
23
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA Don't you know that it's not this hard
Well it's not this hard
But if you take what's yours and I take mine
Must we go there
Please not this time, no not this time
If you run away now
Will you come back around
And if you ran away
I'd still wave goodbye
Watching you shine bright
Now I think we're taking this too far
Don't you know that it's not this hard
Well it's not this hard
But if you take what's yours and I take mine
Must we go there
Please not this time, no not this time
I'd wave goodbye
Watching you shine bright
I'll wave goodbye tonight
24

UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA APPENDIX
1. Biography of Paramore
An American rock band Paramore was formed in Franklin,Tennessee in 2004.
The founders are brothers Farro – Zac and Josh. In the same year, Hayley
Williams joined, trying her hand at singing in many bands. One of such, was The
Factory, where she met Jeremy Davis. He also joined Paramore in 2004, but left
them in the middle of recording the debut album ”All We Know Is Falling”
because of (according to this words) conviction that band‟s members are way too
young to succeed, as well as growing tired of daily rail journeys to recording
studio. At the very beginning, band consisted of two guitarist. Apart from Josh,
Jason Bynum had performed as the second one, but he left Paramore in 2006.
During one of rehearsals, girlfriend of band‟s member tried to define their activity
– playing in garage – as paramour („secret love”). Musicians decided to change
the spelling a little and that‟s how they adopted name Paramore. The first song
they have written was ”Conspiracy”.
From this moment on, as befits a fresh band, Paramore started performing in
the various little clubs in state of Tennessee. In 2005, band was featured in
”Purple Door” and performed, for the first time, at ”Warped Tour”. In the same
year, they managed to become the support of Simple Plan. Thanks to that, the

UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA recording label Fueled by Ramen (cooler niche section of Atlantic Records) signed a contract with them.
Recording of ”All We Know Is Falling”
After being signed to recording label, Paramore traveled back to Orlando,
Florida (they were there for the first time at ”Purple Door” festival), where they started to record their debut studio album. That‟s precisely when Jeremy Davis left them. Kinda inspired by it, band‟s members wrote the song ”All We Know” and decided to title album ”All We Know Is Falling”. Process of recording took only three weeks, because they were using already created material. They did the whole thing in the formation of four-persons. Before the tour‟s kickoff, they welcomed a new bassist – John Hembree – who replaced Jeremy Davis. After the five months of ‚membership‟, John was set to leave because of Jeremy‟s comeback.
Album ”All We Know Is Falling” was released on 24th July 2005 and reached #30 of Billboard‟s Heatseekers Chart. „Pressure” was chosen to be the first single, with a video clip directed by Shane Drake. In July 2006, band released another single, also with a music video, this time ”Emergency”, which meant for them reuniting with Shan Drake. A few weeks before scheduled shooting, Jason Bynum left Paramore and Hunter Lamb, who is actually performing in the clip of ”Emergency”, replaced him. The third single was song

UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA ”All We Know”. Non-professional video was made for it, aiming primarily at the promoting tour. After the release of debut album, Paramore went on short tours through UK and US. They also visited Japan.
Recording of ”RIOT! ” and the worldwide success
Recording of Paramore‟s second studio album „Riot!” has began in 2006. At the beginning of 2007, Hunter Lamb resigned from composing music so he could dedicate his entire time to family, as he got married. After his departure, Josh
Farro decided to record all guitar leading parts of the album‟s songs himself.
Taylor York, who has been a musician-buddy of Farro brothers since pre-
Paramore times, was chosen to replace Lamb. In June 2009, he was announced the official and rightful member of band. Album „Riot!” has been recorded in
New Jersey with producer David Bendeth and was released on 12th June 2007.
The concept of band‟s members was a desire of founding one-word title and they loved the definition of word caught in a dictionary by Josh.
The first single of this album was released in 2007 ”Misery Business”, which became worldwide hit. Shane Drake was assigned again to direct the video clip.
The second single in US was song ”crushcrushcrush”, whereas in UK
”Hallelujah” was chosen to be one (a long before reign of ”crushcrushcrush”) and its music video reflects the idea of band‟s members on so-called calendar‟s sheets.?? Shan Drake took up a job of directing once again – ”crushcrushcrush”
31
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA was his next challenge. In 2008 the last single of „Riot!” was released – ”That‟s
What You Get”. Marcos Siega was set to direct music video.
„Riot!” sold 44,000 its first week in the United States. In 2008, album went platinum in US and gold in Ireland. In the same year, band began their final grand tour promoting „Riot!”. It was exclusive for US and one of the concerts – held in
Chicago – was recorded and published as the first band‟s live album – ”The Final
Riot! Tour”. It went gold in US.
Paramore Reborn
In the beginning of January, Hayley published info on her Twitter, saying that band has finished the first demo since the regrouping. On her blog, she released the lyrics and then the melody of the new song titled „In The Mourning”. Later, on the official site of band, the recording of Hayley and Taylor performing full verion of that track was published. It wasn‟t even week, as we found out that band is struggling with the second demo. In February, Hayley announced that band members will participate in a new shoot, made by Lindsey Byrnes. In the middle of March, the first photo was released in HQ.
Fifth studio album and Zac’s comeback
Being on the cruise Paramore claimed that the writing of their fifth studio album isn‟t going well but they also promised to come back home and start working on it for real. On 24th of March Hayley officially confirmed, on Twitter,

On the 2nd of February 2017, when the album was supposed to be already finished, Paramore posted online a short sentence – „I‟m back” – and a t-shirt with a photo of a baby Zac. Later the same day people working close to Paramore confirmed that Farro is once again an official member of Paramore.
“Pressure”
“Tell me where our time went And if it was time well spent Just don't let me fall asleep Feeling empty again
Cause I fear I might break (organic) and I fear I can't take it Tonight I'll lie awake feeling empty
I can feel the pressure It's getting closer now We're better off without you I can feel the pressure It's getting closer now We're better off without you
Now that I'm losing hope And there's nothing else to show For all of the days that we spent Carried away from home (visual)
Some things I'll never know And I had to let them go
33
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA I'm sitting all alone feeling empty
I can feel the pressure It's getting closer now We're better off without you I can feel the pressure It's getting closer now We're better off without you
Without you
Some things I'll never know And I had to let them go Some things I'll never know And I had to let them go I'm sitting all alone feeling empty
I can feel the pressure It's getting closer now We're better off without you
Feel the pressure It's getting closer now You're better off without me
34
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA “Here We Go Again”
And Here we go again
With all the things we said
And not a minute spent
To think that we'd regret
So we just take it back
These words and hold our breath
Forget the things we swore we meant
I'll write you just to let you know
That I'm alright
Can't say I'm sad to see you go
Cause I'm not (No I'm not)
Well I'm not
And here we go again
With all the things we did
And now I'm wondering
Just who would I have been
To be the one attached at all time to your hip
Forget the things we swore we meant
35
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA I'll write you just to let you know
That I'm alright
Can't say I'm sad to see you go
Cause I'm not (No I'm not)
Well I'm not
I'll write you to let you know
That I'm alright
Can't say I'm sad to see you go
Cause I'm not (No I'm not)
Well I'm not
Here we go again
With all the things we said
And not a minute spent
To think that we'd regret
So we just take it back
36
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA “ Never Let This Go”
Maybe if my heart stops beating
It won't hurt this much
And never will I have to answer
Again to anyone
Please don't get me wrong
Because I'll never let this go
But I can't find the words to tell you
I don't want to be alone
But now I feel like I don't know you
One day you'll get sick of
Saying that everything's alright
And by then I'm sure I'll be pretending
Just like I am tonight
Let this go
Let this go
37
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA “My Heart”
I am finding out that maybe I was wrong
That I've fallen down and I can't do this alone
Stay with me
This is what I need, please
Sing us a song
And we'll sing it back to you
We could sing our own
But what would it be without you
I am nothing now
And its been so long
Since I've heard a sound
The sound of my only hope
This time I will be listening
Sing us a song
And we'll sing it back to you
We could sing our own
But what would it be without you
38
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you, oh
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart is yours
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart is yours (my heart beats for you)
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart is yours
This heart, it beats
Beats for only you
My heart, my heart is yours
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
(please don't go now, please don't fade away)
39
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA “All We Know”
We've tried so hard to understand
But we can't
We held the world out in our hands
And you ran away
It takes some time to let you go
And it shows
'Cause all we know is falling, it falls
And remember, 'cause I know that we won't forget at all
Now we could follow you back home
But we won't
Is this what you had waited for
Just to be alone?
It takes some time to let you go
And it shows
'Cause all we know is falling, it falls
And remember, 'cause I know that we won't forget at all
You never
You never said
This wasn't what you wanted
Was it?
Was it?
40
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA This isn't what you wanted
This isn't what you wanted
'Cause all we know is falling, it falls
And remember, 'cause I know that we won't forget at all
41
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA “ Brighter”
So this is how it goes
Well I, I would have never known
And if it ends today
Well I'll still say that you shine brighter
Than anyone
Now I think we're taking this too far
Don't you know that it's not this hard
Well it's not this hard
But if you take what's yours and I take mine
Must we go there
Please not this time, no not this time
Well this is not your fault
But if I'm without you
Then I will feel so small
And if you have to go
Always know that you shine brighter
Than anyone does
42
UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA Now I think we're taking this too far
Don't you know that it's not this hard
Well it's not this hard
But if you take what's yours and I take mine
Must we go there
Please not this time, no not this time
If you run away now
Will you come back around
And if you ran away
I'd still wave goodbye
Watching you shine bright
Now I think we're taking this too far
Don't you know that it's not this hard
Well it's not this hard
But if you take what's yours and I take mine
Must we go there
Please not this time, no not this time
I'd wave goodbye
Watching you shine bright
I'll wave goodbye tonight
