This fish has a lot of thorns and bones, and in terms of processing it has not been used properly, so it is necessary to process it in a different way where one of them can be done using presto techniques. The purpose of this study is to determine the heating time to make the lalawak fish presto the most preferred by panelists. This study uses an experimental method with Friedman Test, multiple comparisons and Bayes Test for processing data with 3 treatments of warm-up time, namely 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes with 20 panelists as replications. The results of the hedonic test showed that the appearance and aroma were not significantly different between treatments, while the texture and taste were significantly different between treatments where the average value of treatment was 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes, respectively from the texture of 6.0; 6.3; 7.5, and taste which is 6.7; 7.1; 8.0. The treatment with a heating time of 120 minutes is the most preferred treatment by the panelists and this treatment is carried out by a proximate test to see the chemical content in it.

In Southeast Asia, biodiversity-rich forests are being logged and converted to oil-palm monocultures. The impacts of land-use change on freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity, remains largely understudied and poorly understood. I investigated the impacts of logging and conversion of tropical forest in 35 streams across a land-use gradient on freshwater fishes, a useful biotic indicator group, and a vital provisioning ecosystem service. This research was extended to quantify the benefits of riparian reserves in disturbed landscapes, and examine the interaction of land-use change with extreme climatic events. There are four key findings from this research. (1) Any modification of primary rainforest is associated with a loss of fish species and functional richness. (2) Streams in oil-palm plantations with riparian reserves of high forest quality, and a width of > 64m on either side, retain higher species richness and higher abundances of individual fish species.

The aims of this study was to reveal the characteristics of meristic, morphometric, and habitat of the species. The study was conducted on the Serayu river especially in Banjarnegara, Central Java Province. Sampling was conducted on May 2012 to June 2013. The area of study was divided into three zones and the zones was categorized based on Reservoirs at Mrica area these are upper zone, reservoir zone, and below the reservoir zone. Fishing gear used are cast net, elektorfishing, and gill nets. Samples of fish were caught preserved in 4- 10% formalin solution and then observed in the laboratory. Morphometric characters observed were 24 characters. The results were standardized to standard length, then analyzed with discriminant methods. The structure of the scales and number of ridges on the back of the last dorsal fin spines also observed. The results meristic characters are 4.8 dorsal fin, 3.5 anal fin, 1.14-16 pectoral fin, and predorsal 10-13 scales, also there were no spots on the caudal peduncle.

It is now within transboundary demand-supply chains of Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. An inquest on gene hybridization from the trade used morphometric, meristic and phylogenetic tree construction. Mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase 1 gene codes of three fish, each acquired from five different ornamental traders are revealed some degree of native gene dilution. As such, bootstrap values above 90 were produced after comparison with Indonesian fish, whereas it was below 90 when compared to Malaysian fish. This finding suggests that MalaysianB. schwanfeldii may have cross-bred with same species of non-native origin when held in captivity and it diluted the filial genetic make-up. Dilution of native genetic information cause gene hybridization and this adaptable individuals (an alternative perspective of natural selection) could become invasive. In-line with invasive alien species management, Convention on Biological Diversity has asserted the need for good practices that abide to Transnational Policy Network on Invasive Alien Species.

  • Native Japanese Strain of the Common Carp (Cyprinus Carpio)
17th World Lake Conference, Lake Kasumigaura, Ibaraki, Japan, 2018 㻌 TS1-1 Native Japanese strain of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio): a precious natural heritage remaining in Lake Biwa Kohji Mabuchi Lake Biwa Branch Office, National Institute for Environmental Studies Keywords: Lake Biwa, common carp, native Japanese strain, subspecies ABSTRACT Wild common carp (Cyprinus carpio) are suffering worldwide because of the invasion of conspecific domesticated strains, and the native Japanese strain is no exception. A survey of mitochondrial (mt) DNA sequences from 11 localities in Japan revealed that roughly half of the haplotypes found at all 11 localities were those of introduced Eurasian strains, indicating that the native Japanese strain is suffering as a result of the invasion of Eurasian strains. However, an intensive mtDNA survey of the Lake Biwa population, the largest freshwater body in Japan, demonstrated that about 80% of the individuals in its deep off-shore waters (30–70 m depths) had native Japanese haplotypes. Moreover, a population genetic analysis of nuclear single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) revealed that Lake Biwa harbored a relatively pure native population in its deep waters. Morphological analyses of the Lake Biwa and introduced Eurasian carp using genetic hybrid indices based on the SNPs showed that the typical native Japanese carp surviving in the lake differed from the introduced Eurasian carp in a body-shape trait, some internal features, and some meristic and morphometric characters used for carp taxonomy. A metadata comparison of the last characters between the native Japanese and native Eurasian carp indicated that the native Japanese carp deserves at least subspecific status.
